
ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned an additional 155 MW / 470.25 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Rajasthan, as reported by ETEnergyworld and PV Magazine India. This latest commissioning brings the company's total commissioned BESS capacity to 297.67 MW / 951.74 MWh. The newly commissioned projects were developed through the company's subsidiaries and are strategically connected to the existing Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), enabling them to operate on a merchant basis.
The commissioned systems will generate revenue by charging during non-peak hours and discharging during peak demand periods, capitalizing on price differentials between the two time periods, according to ETEnergyworld. This operational model allows the battery storage facilities to optimize their energy storage and release capabilities based on market demand patterns, maximizing their financial returns through strategic timing of energy discharge. These projects are designed to enhance grid reliability and optimize power utilization by charging batteries during non-peak demand periods and discharging during peak demand periods.
The commissioning forms part of ACME Solar's larger planned BESS rollout of 835 MW / 3,114.64 MWh across its special purpose vehicles (SPVs) in Rajasthan, as reported by ETEnergyworld. These projects are specifically designed to improve grid reliability and balance energy supply and demand in the region. The company's operational contracted capacity currently stands at 2,978 MW with approximately 1.0 GWh of BESS capacity. The BESS facilities will play a critical role in balancing energy supply and demand while improving overall grid stability.
ACME Solar's stock closed at ₹249.10 on the NSE on Tuesday, representing a 4.86% increase from its previous close of ₹237.55, according to PTI. The positive market response reflects investor confidence in the company's expanding renewable energy portfolio and strategic battery storage initiatives. The company's under-construction contracted capacity stands at 5,093 MW, including approximately 16 GWh of planned BESS installation.
