Gold prices experienced a significant surge of ₹689 on Friday to reach ₹1,52,950 per 10 grams in futures trade, according to The Hindu BusinessLine. The rally was driven by strong spot demand and fresh position building by speculators on the Multi Commodity Exchange. On the MCX, gold contracts for August delivery traded higher by ₹689, or 0.45 per cent, with a business turnover of 1,206 lots. This represents a sharp reversal from the previous session's marginal decline, with the latest 22K gold rate reaching ₹13,675 per gram as of May 6, 2026, as reported by ET Now.
The domestic rally mirrored strong international performance, with gold futures rising 0.91 per cent to $4,728.57 per ounce in New York trading, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine. This global strength provided additional support to the domestic futures market, with analysts noting that fresh positions built up by participants led to the price increase. The international momentum suggests continued bullish sentiment across global gold markets, supporting the domestic price surge.
