
All banks across India are operational today, May 30, 2026, as it falls on the fifth Saturday of the month, which is not a bank holiday. According to reports from Mint, banks follow the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday schedule, which mandates closure on the second and fourth Saturdays every month, in addition to Sundays. However, banks remain open on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of each month, along with all other days of the week.
As per the RBI schedule, banks were closed for 8 days in May 2026. According to Mint, the closure schedule included Friday, May 1 for May Day/Buddha Purnima, Wednesday, May 28 for Bakrid/Eid al-Adha, and both the second Saturday (May 9) and fourth Saturday (May 23). All Sundays throughout the month were also observed as holidays. Regional holidays may differ from state to state, making it advisable to check state-wise calendars for local variations.
Online banking services remain accessible even on bank holidays, ensuring continuous customer service throughout the year. As reported by Mint, digital services operate 24/7, allowing customers to conduct various transactions including UPI transactions, money transfers, net banking services, loan applications, and chequebook requests without interruption when physical branches are closed.
RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) and NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) systems remain operational 24/7, maintaining continuous cash transfer capabilities between banks. According to Mint, these facilities have been available on all days since December 14, 2020, enabling seamless electronic fund transfers regardless of bank holiday schedules.
