The extended closure period includes multiple festivals and celebrations, with August 29 being the only working day during this period due to it being the fifth Saturday of the month. August 30 will also see bank closures due to Sunday observance. As per Zee News, banking activities on mobile and internet platforms will remain uninterrupted, though several bank branches will remain closed on account of bank holidays. The RBI calendar shows three regional bank holidays between August 24 and August 30, with physical bank branches closing on up to four days this week in different states. Despite physical branch closures, essential banking services remain operational nationwide during the holiday period, with customers able to continue using UPI or respective bank mobile apps to make payments and receive money.

August 28 will see closures in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand for Raksha Bandhan/Pang-Lhabsol/Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi/Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi/Ayyankali Jayanthi. As per Zee News, banks will not be closed for all days consecutively in all states or regions, with the closure schedule varying by specific state-observed holidays. The Reserve Bank of India places holidays under three brackets - Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Accounts.

For August 28, branches in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh will close for Raksha Bandhan. NEFT/RTGS transfer forms, demand draft request forms and cheque book forms can also be used for fund transfers. Online banking services continue to be available, though they may occasionally be unavailable during scheduled maintenance. ATMs remain open 24/7 across all cities, allowing customers to use debit and credit cards without any hassle. However, transactions that require branch visits may be impacted in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, including deposits or withdrawals of lump-sum amounts, cheque-related services, account opening, loan applications, fixed deposits, and KYC processes. As per NDTV Profit, customers can still use ATMs for cash withdrawals, and online banking services including internet banking, mobile banking apps and UPI will continue to work during the holiday period. Saturday, August 29 offers a brief window of opportunity as it is a fifth Saturday, with branches remaining open as normal despite the RBI's usual closure rule for second and fourth Saturdays.
