According to reports from The Economic Times, Axis Bank Ltd reported robust growth in key business metrics for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Total deposits stood at ₹14.521 lakh crore, rising 20.7% year-on-year and 5.8% quarter-on-quarter from the previous quarter. The bank's quarterly average total deposits reached ₹13.96 lakh crore, up 22.5% year-on-year and 7% quarter-on-quarter. However, growth was partly influenced by loans linked to FCNR(B) deposits, with underlying growth showing gross advances growing 18.8% year-on-year and 5.3% quarter-on-quarter when excluding leveraging facility impacts.
As reported by The Economic Times, the bank's deposit structure showed mixed performance across segments. Average CASA deposits rose 13.9% to ₹4.94 lakh crore, while average term deposits jumped 27.8% to ₹9.02 lakh crore.
According to The Economic Times, during the quarter, Axis Bank mobilised FCNR(B) deposits of $10.62 billion (₹1.02 lakh crore) following the swap facility for FCNR(B) deposits introduced by the Reserve Bank of India earlier this year. A portion of these FCNR(B) flows was used to reduce non-retail term deposits, which declined 8.6% sequentially. The bank's international branches extended loans of $4.57 billion (₹43,800 crore) to customers as a leveraging facility for placing such deposits. Additionally, standby letters of credit issued in favour of other banks against loans backed by FCNR(B) deposits aggregated $4.69 billion (₹449 billion). Excluding the related impact, total deposits would have grown 17% year-on-year and 2.6% quarter-on-quarter.
As reported by The Economic Times, excluding loans linked to FCNR(B) deposits, the bank's underlying growth showed gross advances growing 18.8% year-on-year and 5.3% quarter-on-quarter as of September 30. Total deposits would have grown 17% year-on-year and 2.6% quarter-on-quarter, while term deposits would have grown 21.3% year-on-year and 3.2% quarter-on-quarter.
