Axis Bank is launching an extensive outreach program across India to engage over 5,000 customers and honour approximately 1,000 entrepreneurs in the tourism and hospitality sectors. According to reports from Rediff Money, the private sector lender announced this nationwide initiative to mark World Tourism Day. The bank is organising a tourism and hospitality-focused edition of its flagship MSME knowledge-sharing platform, Evolve, in Goa, bringing together entrepreneurs, industry stakeholders and experts to examine changing traveller preferences and emerging business opportunities.
The bank recently partnered with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and introduced a dedicated Hotel and Hospitality Programme under its MSME portfolio. As reported by Rediff Money, Axis Bank said the initiative will take forward its engagement with businesses across the tourism and hospitality value chain through sector-specific financial solutions and partnerships with industry bodies. The Evolve platform has brought together more than 10,000 entrepreneurs across over 50 cities since its launch, providing a platform for business leaders, industry specialists and banking professionals to exchange ideas and share sector knowledge.
According to Rediff Money, tourism contributes 5.22% to India's economy and accounts for 13.34% of total employment. Vijay Shetty, Group Head-Commercial Banking Group at Axis Bank, noted that tourism and hospitality enterprises have an economic impact that extends beyond individual businesses, contributing to employment, encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting economic activity in local communities. The sector is undergoing a shift driven by rising domestic travel and better connectivity, with consumer interest expanding across wellness, heritage, weddings, experiential travel and spiritual tourism segments.
As reported by Rediff Money, the changing travel landscape is creating opportunities for businesses across the wider tourism and hospitality value chain, from accommodation and food services to travel-related enterprises and experience-led offerings. The bank's sector-focused outreach and Evolve platform are designed to deepen engagement with businesses as their requirements evolve. The Goa event will provide a forum for entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders to discuss these changes while sharing insights and business practices, strengthening Axis Bank's presence among India's tourism and hospitality enterprises.
