
Tata Elxsi has launched AnaTel, an AI-native software development platform for healthcare and medical technology companies, co-developed with OpenAna. The platform was unveiled at DeviceTalks Boston 2026 and is designed to support software development workflows in regulated medical device environments. According to the company, AnaTel integrates autonomous AI agents across the software delivery lifecycle, including requirements management, architecture, testing, deployment, verification, validation, and compliance documentation. The platform is co-developed through STEP.UP, Tata Elxsi's co-innovation program for high-potential deep-tech companies.
The platform supports preparation of regulatory artifacts such as traceability matrices, audit trails, and eSTAR-aligned submissions required under evolving FDA and European medical device guidelines. As reported by CNBC TV18, this capability addresses the complex regulatory requirements that medical device companies must navigate during the development and approval process. The platform specifically addresses the FDA's 2025 draft guidance on AI-Enabled Device Software Functions and Europe's MDCG 2025-26, which require rigorous lifecycle documentation, traceability, and validation evidence as part of core engineering workflows, not submission afterthoughts.
According to Tata Elxsi, the platform is expected to reduce software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) development and change assessment timelines from eight weeks to 72 hours, while improving productivity by up to 60%. This significant acceleration in development timelines could substantially reduce the time-to-market for medical software applications. The platform operates as a configurable AI software team, generating code, documentation, test cases, and regulatory artifacts while maintaining human engineers and regulatory experts in control at every critical review and decision point.
The offering combines Tata Elxsi's healthcare engineering expertise with OpenAna's autonomous AI engineering platform capabilities. Sreevatsa Sahasranaman, Senior Vice President and Head, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Tata Elxsi, stated that AnaTel accelerates regulatory-ready software engineering by bringing autonomous AI agents directly into development workflows while keeping customers' engineering and regulatory experts in control. Rajiv Sondhi, Chief Executive Officer, OpenAna, emphasized that the partnership brings autonomous AI agents into the demanding regulated healthcare and medtech domain.
