According to reports from The Times of India, Nvidia has reportedly announced plans to raise AI server prices by around 15% from next year. This price hike is expected to significantly impact India's AI infrastructure development, particularly affecting GPU cloud providers, data-centre operators, and companies building large compute clusters.
As reported by The Times of India, industry executives are warning that some of the price increase may ultimately be passed on to customers. The impact could be particularly significant as India scales up AI compute capacity across private data centres, cloud platforms and government-backed programmes. Higher hardware costs could force operators to reassess expansion plans, delay fresh capacity additions or explore alternative chip architectures.
According to Ishan Talathi, founder and CEO of CloudPe, as reported by The Times of India, Nvidia's pricing is driven largely by demand and component costs, especially memory, which remains tight and is projected to rise through 2027. Talathi noted that Nvidia had already raised prices of its RTX Pro 6000 series from $13,250 to $16,000 earlier this month, representing an increase of 20.8% in two months. The broader consumer electronics industry is facing similar pressures, with Amazon quietly raising prices up to 60% across its Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and eero lineup on August 21, blaming rising memory and storage costs.
As reported by The Times of India, for an AI cloud platform like CloudPe, where GPU servers are among the biggest capex items, this translates into a 10-12% increase in overall deployment costs. CloudPe expects GPU cloud pricing in India to rise by 10-15% over the next 12-18 months unless memory supply improves or alternative architectures gain traction. The company's CEO noted that Nvidia's pricing adjustments reflect the broader industry trend of absorbing component cost increases before passing them on to customers.
