AI software delivery platform Harness Inc has acquired select assets of AI coding platform Augment Code for an undisclosed amount, according to reports from Business Standard. The deal includes Augment's Cosmos, Auggie CLI products, the code context engine, and related technology. The teams behind these products will join Harness, accelerating its work to make the entire software development lifecycle increasingly autonomous. As announced by Harness, Cosmos will become Harness Cosmos Software Factory Agent, with a clear role to automate engineering work from idea to code.
As reported by Business Standard, Harness Founder and CEO Jyoti Bansal explained that the acquisition extends into the coding cycle, enabling safer and more secure code from the start. Bansal, known as the founder of business software company AppDynamics which Cisco bought for about $3.7 billion in 2017, outlined his goal of an autonomous SDLC from idea to production. The San Francisco-headquartered company is valued at $5.5 billion after its 2025 Series E fundraise of $240 million. According to Harness, Bansal emphasized that "AI's impact on software will not be measured by how much code it generates, but by how much valuable software reaches customers."
According to Business Standard, Harness plans to bring the Cosmos software factory into the Harness platform so the process can run end to end. The company focuses on bottlenecks that arise after codes are written, bringing AI to testing, deployment, security, compliance, and cost optimization, which can account for 70-80 per cent of the time after code is written. As announced by Harness, connecting Augment's Code Context Engine with Harness's Software Delivery Knowledge Graph provides insights across the full SDLC. The integration brings codebase understanding together with delivery context, enabling Harness Cosmos to make better-informed changes upfront and Harness agents to use downstream findings to correct and verify them.
As reported by Business Standard, Harness expects to touch cumulative revenue of about $400 million by the end of 2026, with banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) contributing almost 30 per cent. The company serves clients including Citibank, United Airlines, and PayPal, with 1,300 people globally, including 500 in India. According to Harness, the company's existing agents for software delivery, security testing, runtime protection, and cost management take over after Cosmos completes the engineering work, creating a seamless agent to agent experience.
