The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) launched the Family Office Forum on Tuesday, creating a dedicated platform for family offices to connect with India's startup ecosystem. According to reports from Business Standard, the forum aims to channel a growing pool of family capital estimated at over $30 billion across roughly 300 family offices in India into the country's startup and innovation ecosystem. The initiative represents a strategic move to make it easier for these big family-run funds and young companies to connect, share deals, and co-invest, essentially giving innovation in India a solid boost. As per PTI, the chamber officially announced the launch stating that FICCI today launched the Family Office Forum - a dedicated platform for family offices with the aim of channelling this substantial capital pool into the startup ecosystem.
As reported by Business Standard, the forum has been established to serve as a specialized platform connecting the country's family offices with the startup ecosystem, providing a structured framework for dialogue, deal flow and co-investment opportunities. The platform aims to build a trusted pan-India network of family offices in a phased manner while curating deal flow, organizing demo days, and enabling co-investment and shared due diligence with startups and venture capitalists. According to latest reports, the forum is designed to foster dialogue, deal-flow, and co-investment opportunities, making it easier for these major sources of capital to work with young companies and understand startup ecosystem dynamics.
According to Business Standard, the newly launched forum also aspires to serve as a collective voice on policy, taxation and regulatory matters, aligning with its vision to channel capital into building the country's next generation of globally competitive companies. Sanjeev Bikhchandani, chair of the FICCI Startup Committee and founder and executive vice-chairman of Info Edge, emphasized that family offices are emerging as a serious, professional source of capital for the country's economic growth. Bikhchandani noted that family offices are becoming a major source of money for new businesses, but they need more tailored support, explaining that these groups are getting bigger and more focused, so the forum will help them better understand startups and invest smarter. As per PTI, Bikhchandani highlighted that family offices represent a significant and growing segment of capital in India, but their needs have simply not been well served and called for this dedicated platform where they can exchange ideas and work together.
As reported by Business Standard, Bikhchandani noted that family offices represent a significant and growing segment of capital in India, but their needs have not been well served historically. He explained that family offices have historically been clubbed together with venture capital firms, even though their experience, regulations, investment strategies, and taxation issues are quite distinct. Bikhchandani added that as India prospers, family offices are only going to get larger and more specialized, calling for a dedicated platform where they can exchange ideas and work together. The forum is expected to drive entrepreneurial growth across India by providing the tailored support these groups need to invest effectively in the startup ecosystem. According to PTI, Bikhchandani emphasized that as India prospers, family offices are only going to get larger and more specialised, and that calls for a dedicated platform where they can exchange ideas and work together.
