Econovus Packaging, a Pune-based engineered sustainable packaging company, has successfully raised ₹40 crore in Pre-Series A funding. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, Outlook Business, and Daily Indian Funding Roundup, this marks the company's first institutional funding round, which was led by Rainmatter by Zerodha with participation from Rockstud Capital. The funding round was completed on July 7, 2026, after the company operated as a bootstrapped and profitable business since its launch in January 2019. As per the company's latest statement, the capital will be used to establish an integrated manufacturing facility in Pune and a dedicated design centre to support expansion across domestic industrial supply chains and export markets.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, Outlook Business, and Daily Indian Funding Roundup, Econovus' portfolio spans UN-certified lithium-ion battery packaging, heavy-duty export packaging, returnable and expendable packaging, and automotive packaging across CKD, SKD and CBU formats. The company develops customised industrial packaging solutions using engineered materials, proprietary designs and space optimisation techniques. According to the company, its products aim at reducing both packaging-related carbon emissions and the overall cost of ownership for customers. The company positions itself as a sustainable packaging solutions provider serving various industries with its engineered approach to packaging design and manufacturing. Econovus claims to be India's first carbon-neutral industrial packaging company and has previously received the EarthCare Award for South Asia, the ASSOCHAM-Government of India All India Startup Competition award, and the Emerging Company Award in the industrial packaging category.
According to The Hindu BusinessLine, Outlook Business, and Daily Indian Funding Roundup, Ramesh Prasad, Founder and Managing Director of Econovus Packaging, stated that the investment enables the company to scale its platform and accelerate the industry's transition to a zero-waste packaging future. The funding will be used to establish an integrated manufacturing facility in Pune and a dedicated design centre to support expansion across domestic industrial supply chains and export markets. The investment will deepen the company's penetration into critical, high-growth sectors, extending its sustainable packaging platform across automotive, lithium-ion battery, solar infrastructure, steel, defence and broader industrial supply chains. Prasad emphasized that "India's manufacturing future will require packaging that is engineered, digital and sustainable. Over the last seven years, Econovus has built the design, engineering and manufacturing base to deliver green packaging solutions that cut both carbon and cost for our customers."
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, Outlook Business, and Daily Indian Funding Roundup, Abhinav Singh Negi, Lead - Climate and Deep Tech at Rainmatter, highlighted the challenge of building packaging that OEMs actually switch to, emphasizing that the company's high quality engineering ensures recyclable, lighter and cheaper packaging hold at once at production scale without compromising on quality. The company noted that India's engineering exports reached a record $122.43 billion, making the sector the country's largest merchandise export contributor with nearly 28% of total exports. Negi explained that "Conventional industrial packaging remains a significant source of avoidable cost, material waste and emissions in Indian manufacturing. Most of it is wood-based or single-use, and it sits invisibly inside the cost structure of every shipment." The company's packaging solutions reduce logistics costs, container utilisation losses and the carbon footprint of supply chains across automotive, electronics, clean energy, industrial machinery and electrical equipment sectors.
