According to reports from The HinduBusinessLine, Dextr AI, the AI agent platform for hospitality, has successfully raised $6.7 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Elevation Capital with participation from Foundation Capital. The company plans to use the new capital to accelerate product development, expand the team, and scale deployments across hospitality markets globally, with India among the key markets for expansion. Co-founded in July last year by Sajid Shariff and Scott Arnold, Dextr AI is an AI agent platform for hospitality that automates workflows across guest experience, reservations, staff operations, sales and marketing for hundreds of properties, from independent hotels and resorts to franchised properties. The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2025, has grown its team to around 20 people and is building what it describes as an AI workforce for hotels and resorts.
As reported by The HinduBusinessLine, Dextr AI's platform allows hospitality employees to control teams of specialized AI agents across Voice AI, Guest Management, Back Office operations, including Staff Management, and Sales and Marketing. The company currently operates across properties in the US, Canada, UK and Europe, including franchised properties operating under the Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western and IHG flags. The platform is processing over a million interactions every month and is among the few AI platforms able to take payments by voice, processing tens of millions of dollars through phone reservations monthly on behalf of customers. Dextr's agents include Daisy for reservations and modifications in more than 90 languages, Alfred for guest requests and service recovery, Manny for workforce management, and Cosmo for marketing and direct bookings. The platform uses a forward-deployed model where Dextr's AI strategists and engineers work directly with hospitality businesses to identify operational problems, connect the software to existing systems and configure the agents around the hotel's workflows.
According to The HinduBusinessLine, the opportunity in India is particularly relevant because the country's hospitality industry continues to be deeply rooted in human interaction, even as operators contend with rising costs, staffing constraints and growing guest expectations. Dextr's analysis of India-based contact centres has found missed call rates of around 42%, and for hospitality operators, every missed call can mean a booking going to an OTA or a competitor. The company sees AI not as a replacement for that human touch, but as a way to fill operational gaps that prevent hospitality teams from delivering it consistently. These gaps include missed calls, unanswered enquiries, unfilled shifts and guest requests. The wider Indian market offers significant scale and constraints, with NITI Aayog estimating that tourism contributed ₹15.73 lakh crore to India's economy in FY2023-24 and supported about 84.6 million jobs. Domestic tourist visits reached 2.9 billion in 2024, while the country's branded hotel inventory was about 200,000 rooms, highlighting a continuing gap between demand and organized supply.
As reported by The HinduBusinessLine, alongside the funding round, Dextr AI is unveiling Doss Gen 1, a command layer that allows employees to control the AI workforce in plain language, either by texting or talking to it. Doss is designed with role-based permissions, audit trail and portfolio-wide consistency that enterprise operators require. The company's platform is already powering over a million monthly interactions for assets across multiple hospitality verticals.
According to The HinduBusinessLine, Dextr's deployments have generated measurable operational and revenue outcomes for hospitality operators. A reservation contact centre generated $80,000 in incremental revenue within 60 days of forward-deploying Dextr's enterprise Voice AI into complex, live reservation operations, representing 49x ROI. A six-property hotel group eliminated 1,200 unnecessary labour hours through AI-driven housekeeping and labour optimisation, resulting in an 8 per cent EBITDA improvement. A destination resort cut operating costs while maintaining 92 per cent guest satisfaction with a leaner team, generating $120,000 in annual savings. Additionally, 100 per cent of properties using Alfred, Dextr's AI guest management agent, raised their OTA ratings by an average of 0.4 points within 90 days.
