According to reports from NDTV Profit, flexi cap funds are equity mutual funds that can invest across large-, mid- and small-cap companies. As per SEBI guidelines, at least 65% of its total assets must be invested in equity and equity-related instruments. This means for every ₹100 in the fund, at least ₹65 is invested in company shares or instruments linked to them, providing a substantial equity exposure foundation. The Axis Flexi Cap Fund specifically requires minimum 65% equity exposure and offers flexibility in choosing stocks from any market capitalization.
As reported by NDTV Profit, large caps represent the top 100 companies by market capitalization and are generally established businesses that can potentially bring relative stability. Mid caps are ranked 101st-250th and may offer momentum through growth opportunities. Small caps, ranked 251st onwards, can bring agility through opportunities beyond larger companies, but may also carry greater risk. Each segment offers different characteristics that can complement each other in a diversified portfolio approach.
According to NDTV Profit, flexi cap fund managers don't have to maintain a fixed allocation across the three segments based on market conditions, valuations and available opportunities. This flexibility allows the fund to adjust its market-cap mix as opportunities evolve, similar to how a football manager adapts strategy during a game. The Axis Flexi Cap Fund offers flexible allocation across market caps with no minimum allocation requirement, providing professional fund managers with leeway to capture best available opportunities in the market at any given time.
As reported by NDTV Profit, investors can invest in a Flexi Cap Fund through a lump sum or a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) where a fixed amount is invested regularly. The Axis Flexi Cap Fund accepts SIP investments of ₹100 per month and lump sum investments starting from ₹100 with multiples of ₹1. The fund offers no lock-in period and provides liquidity with redemption available at any time, subject to applicable loads. Recent performance data shows the fund has delivered 14.24% returns since inception with 13.08% annualized returns for SIP investments, demonstrating the fund's ability to provide long-term capital appreciation through professional management.
