According to reports from Mint, a smart investor can accumulate ₹55.88 crore by starting with just ₹30 daily savings and investing through a monthly SIP. The strategy involves starting a ₹9,000 monthly SIP in equity mutual funds, which requires saving ₹30 per day through cutting down on unnecessary expenses. This approach demonstrates how early career investment combined with systematic growth can lead to substantial wealth creation over a 35-year investment horizon.
As reported by Mint, Pankaj Mathpal, CEO & MD at Optima Money Managers, emphasized that equity mutual funds offer monthly SIPs with annual step-up options. However, many investors choose not to opt for the annual step-up feature, which leads to accumulating almost half of the potential amount. SEBI-registered tax and investment expert Jitendra Solanki advised that investors should opt for a 15% annual step-up SIP rather than the typical 10% annual step-up, as this has significant impact on the net sum at redemption time.
According to the SBI Securities mutual fund calculator analysis reported by Mint, assuming a 15% annual return on a monthly SIP of ₹9,000 with a 15% annual step-up, investors would accumulate ₹55.88 crore after 35 years. Mathpal of Optima Money Managers recommended specific mutual fund plans for substantial returns through SIPs, including HDFC Flexi Cap Fund, Nippon India Multicap Fund, ICICI Prudential Value Fund, Kotak Multicap Fund, and Invesco India Large & Midcap Fund.
As reported by Mint, the strategy requires starting early in one's career and maintaining consistent investment discipline. The ₹9,000 monthly SIP represents a substantial commitment that can be achieved through systematic expense management and early career planning. The analysis assumes a long-term investment horizon of 35 years or more, during which investors can expect at least 15% annual returns on their equity mutual fund investments.
