Jio BlackRock Mutual Fund has achieved significant market success, climbing to the 29th position among India's 52 fund houses as of March 2026. According to CNBC-TV18, the fund house launched its first new fund offer (NFO) in July 2025 and has since launched 14 different funds in the last nine months, starting with debt funds and gradually expanding into retail assets. The fund house currently manages ₹18,500 crore in assets under management across 14 schemes, including five fixed income schemes, three active equity schemes, four index equity schemes, one index debt scheme, and one hybrid scheme.
Jio BlackRock Mutual Fund has received final approval from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to establish operations in GIFT City. As per CNBC-TV18, the fund house, which is a 50:50 joint venture between Jio Financial Services and BlackRock, needed approvals from both SEBI and IFSCA to set up operations in India's international financial services centre. The fund house has already secured in-principle SEBI approval for the GIFT City operations.
CEO Siddharth Swaminathan explained to CNBC-TV18 that the GIFT City operations aim to provide international exposure to Indian investors while offering international investors access to Indian markets. The fund house still needs to complete several checks before operations can commence from GIFT City over the next few months, with fund approvals also required for the launch. Swaminathan emphasized that international exposure is an important component of asset allocation and will be a key driver for the fund house's expansion plans.
According to Swaminathan's comments to CNBC-TV18, Jio BlackRock plans to launch commodity ETFs focusing on gold and silver as their first set of ETFs. The fund house currently offers ₹18,500 crore in assets under management across 14 schemes, including five fixed income schemes, three active equity schemes, four index equity schemes, one index debt scheme, and one hybrid scheme. The commodity ETFs will address a gap in their current product range by providing commodity exposure to investors.
Swaminathan indicated that operations will be ready within the next few months, with the timeframe dependent on completing remaining checks and fund approvals. The GIFT City operations are designed to provide international investors with access to Indian markets while offering Indian investors international investment opportunities through the fund house's global platform. The fund house is also planning to launch Specialised Investment Funds (SIFs) and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) within the next 3 months, with ETFs focusing on commodities as their initial offering.
