In the mid-cap mutual fund segment, Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund recorded the highest one-month return, delivering a 5.9% gain as of July 28, 2026. The scheme had the highest corpus among the leading funds considered in the category, with an AUM of ₹37,473.9 crore. The ranking included only schemes with assets of more than ₹1,500 crore. Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund focuses on investing in mid-sized companies with strong growth potential, and the fund also performed strongly against its benchmark in the short term, being ahead of its benchmark by 6 percentage points on a one-month basis. According to latest analysis, Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund delivered an exceptional absolute return of 169.84% over the past five years, making it the top performer among mid-cap funds.
Latest analysis reveals that 52 equity mutual funds have delivered absolute returns of over 100% in the past five years, as reported by ETMutualFunds. Among large & mid-cap schemes, Motilal Oswal Large & Midcap Fund and Invesco India Large & Mid Cap Fund delivered absolute returns of 125.13% and 123.44%, respectively. The analysis covered 212 regular-plan, growth-option equity funds, excluding sectoral and thematic schemes, with all generating double-digit returns. The top performers were dominated by mid-cap funds, with HDFC Mid-Cap Fund delivering an absolute return of 146.21% during the same period. Small-cap funds also featured prominently, with Invesco India Smallcap Fund and Nippon India Small Cap Fund generating absolute returns of 133.48% and 133.16%, respectively.
Among medium-duration mutual funds, Aditya Birla SL Medium Term Plan emerged as the strongest performer with an 8.5% one-year CAGR return. The scheme maintained its leadership position when evaluated over a longer period as well, delivering a 9.9% CAGR over three years. The fund invests primarily in debt instruments with medium maturity periods and is designed for investors looking for comparatively stable returns with moderate interest rate risk. Aditya Birla SL Medium Term Plan also delivered significant outperformance against its benchmark, being ahead of its benchmark by 5.9 percentage points on a one-year basis.
