
The Bandhan Large & Mid Cap Fund has demonstrated exceptional performance across multiple time horizons, consistently outperforming both its benchmark and category peers. According to reports from Business Standard, the fund has featured in the top 30th percentile of the focused funds category of the Crisil Mutual Fund Ranking (CMFR) for four consecutive quarters through March 2026. The fund's assets under management (AUM) increased nearly sixfold in just three years to ₹14,109 crore during March-end 2026 from ₹2,378 crore in March-end 2023.
The fund's performance has been particularly impressive over longer investment horizons. As reported by Business Standard, ₹10,000 invested in the fund on May 20, 2016, would have increased to ₹45,404 on May 21, 2026, at an annualised rate of 16.32 per cent. This compares favorably to the category average of ₹39,929 (14.84 per cent) and benchmark return of ₹45,122 (16.25 per cent). The fund has also outperformed its peers over one-, two-, three-, five-, seven- and 10-year trailing periods, demonstrating consistent long-term value creation.
The fund's investment approach differs significantly from category averages, with lower allocation to largecap stocks at 41.73 per cent versus the category average of 46.61 per cent. According to Business Standard, the fund allocated 36.32 per cent to midcap stocks and 16.62 per cent to smallcap stocks, compared to category averages of 37.45 per cent and 11.66 per cent respectively. The fund maintains a diversified portfolio across 24 sectors, with the highest allocation to financial services at 29.35 per cent, followed by healthcare at 8.30 per cent and information technology at 6.25 per cent.
Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) in the fund have also delivered strong returns, with a monthly SIP of ₹10,000 over 10 years totaling ₹12 lakh growing to ₹28.83 lakh at 16.78 per cent annualised return. As reported by Business Standard, this compares to the benchmark return of ₹27.18 lakh (15.68 per cent). The fund has outperformed the benchmark over one-, three-, five-, seven- and 10-year SIP periods, demonstrating consistent value creation across different investment approaches.
The fund's portfolio strategy includes overweight positions in high-return sectors such as power (31.56 per cent), metals (31.10 per cent) and realty (21.59 per cent). According to Business Standard, during the review period, the fund took exposure to 310 stocks and held eight consistently. Key contributing stocks include State Bank of India, Power Finance Corporation, Suzlon Energy, One 97 Communications and Angel One. The fund's diversified approach across multiple sectors and market capitalizations has contributed to its consistent outperformance relative to benchmarks and category peers.
