According to Value Research data, 13 stocks are held exclusively by just one mutual fund scheme each, offering insights into differentiated investment strategies adopted by fund managers. Most mutual fund portfolios tend to overlap significantly, with large-cap names such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank appearing across dozens of equity schemes. However, these exclusive holdings reflect fund managers' unique investment approaches that diverge from broader market trends.
Taurus Flexi Cap Fund holds the largest exclusive position with Ambika Cotton Mills accounting for 3% of its total assets. Quant Infrastructure Fund follows with Simplex Infrastructures at 2.8%, while Quant Business Cycle Fund holds Brooks Laboratories as its sole scheme investment at 1.9%. Abakkus Small Cap Fund invests 1.7% in Q-Line Biotech, and Union Active Momentum Fund holds 1.6% in Precision Wires India. The remaining stocks each have allocations ranging between 1.1% and 1.4%, indicating these are differentiated bets without dominant portfolio positions.
Quant Mutual Fund appears three times in the exclusive holdings list through its Infrastructure Fund, Business Cycle Fund and Multi Cap Fund. Similarly, Taurus Mutual Fund features twice through its Flexi Cap Fund and Infrastructure Fund. JM Mutual Fund has two unique holdings in its Small Cap Fund. This distribution suggests that some fund managers prefer a slightly differentiated stock-selection approach, including stocks not found in other mutual fund portfolios.
The data shows that Salzer Electronics accounts for 1.4% of the Taurus Infrastructure Fund, while Mufin Green Finance, Standard Engineering Technology and Northern ARC Capital each account for 1.3% in their respective schemes. At the lower end, Thejo Engineering, Rossell Techsys and Zuari Industries each have 1.2% allocation in their respective schemes. Solarworld Energy Solutions has the smallest allocation at 1.1% in the Motilal Oswal Large Cap Fund. The stocks with at least 1% weight in their respective schemes are considered for this analysis.
