The primary market witnessed significant developments this week with two major IPO filings that have put speculation to rest. NSE filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI for a solely offer-for-sale (OFS) of 14.89 crore shares, with corporate selling shareholders including State Bank of India, MS Strategic (Mauritius) Limited, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and other major financial institutions. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced key updates on the much-awaited Jio Platforms IPO during the company's 49th annual general meeting, confirming that Isha, Akash, and Anant Ambani are leading the Jio IPO process. The proposed Jio Platforms IPO will comprise a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares with a face value of ₹10 each, with funds raised for prepayment of outstanding borrowings by material subsidiary RJIL and general corporate purposes. As per CNBC TV18, these filings represent what could be India's largest IPO in history, with both NSE and Jio Platforms potentially setting new records for Indian public offerings.
According to a report released by Equirus Capital on Tuesday, 23 companies have successfully tapped the Initial Public Offering route to mobilise over ₹27,000 crore in 2026 so far. This follows a strong performance in 2025, when 103 maiden public issues were launched, collectively raising ₹1.76 trillion. The current fundraising figure significantly exceeds the ₹1.6 trillion raised by 90 firms in 2024 and the ₹49,436 crore garnered by 57 companies in 2023. However, as per The Economic Times, the IPO activity is showing signs of a major pickup as geopolitical tension eased, with several companies set to launch public issues this month. As per CNBC TV18, the week ended with gains for the markets, with bulls making clear they do not want the Nifty to slide below the 24,000 mark at least for now.
