Vodafone Idea stock has crossed the ₹15-mark after a gap of nearly 21 months on the NSE, according to reports from Business Standard. The stock now trades at its highest-level since early September 2024, marking a significant recovery milestone. The stock has surged as much as 85 per cent from its low of ₹8.13 hit on April 2, 2026, demonstrating strong momentum in recent trading sessions. Latest developments show the stock surged nearly 7% to a new 52-week high following positive market developments.
On May 15, 2026, Vodafone Idea witnessed exceptional trading activity with a total volume of 178.68 crore shares, translating to a traded value of approximately ₹229.6 crore, as reported by The Economic Times. The stock opened at ₹13.00, touched a day high of ₹13.08, but slipped to a low of ₹12.68 before settling at ₹12.72 by 09:44:47 IST. Despite this surge in trading activity, the stock closed 1.54% lower than the previous close of ₹12.97, underperforming both its sector and the broader Sensex. The delivery volume on May 14 was 22.77 crore shares, but this figure has declined by 26.13% compared to the five-day average, signalling possible reduction in investor participation or profit-booking by short-term holders.
Nishchal Jain, Quant Researcher at Share.Market by PhonePe sees Vodafone Idea stock crossing the ₹20-mark as a viable option, according to Business Standard reports. However, he cautions against short-term volatility owing to overbought conditions. The analyst identifies a strong demand zone established between ₹12.80 and ₹13.30, which serves as a key buffer for healthy pullbacks and aligns perfectly with the 20-day SMA of ₹13.00. Recent market developments have further boosted investor sentiment, with Citi removing its 'High Risk' tag while maintaining a bullish outlook, adding to the positive momentum that helped the stock reach new 52-week highs.
Moving ahead, the 50-day SMA at ₹10.80 shall be the definitive line in the sand for a true trend reversal, explains Jain to Business Standard. He notes that any slip below ₹10.88 signals a macro shift from a bullish to a bearish regime. The structural bull case remains completely intact as long as the stock sustains above the ₹11–₹11.50 zone on a weekly closing basis. The 50-day SMA at ₹10.80 represents the critical technical level for maintaining the current bullish momentum. Despite the day's decline, Vodafone Idea is trading above its key moving averages – 5-day, 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day – signalling an underlying medium to long-term bullish trend.
According to Business Standard reports, analysts have attributed the recent gains at the counter to the significant 27 per cent reduced Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) obligations toward the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), future capex plans and ratings upgrade by ICRA. The Aditya Birla Group's continued support to Vodafone Idea to ensure timely debt servicing and to ensure continuity of operations and improvement in its market position, as stated by ICRA in its ratings rationale. Recent developments have further strengthened this support, with ICRA upgrading the telecom operator's rating and revising its outlook, along with lower AGR dues and promoter support from the Aditya Birla Group. The stock's market capitalisation stands at ₹1,40,521 crore, placing it firmly within the mid-cap segment of the telecom services industry. The Mojo Score has improved to 40.0, categorised under a 'Sell' grade as of April 1, 2026, an upgrade from its previous 'Strong Sell' rating, reflecting some positive developments or stabilisation in fundamentals.
