The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announced on Wednesday that it is likely to issue a tender to select an agency for starting work on a key metro corridor connecting Noida with Greater Noida West. According to reports from Mint, Krishna Karunesh, managing director of NMRC and chief executive officer of Noida Authority, stated that the company has obtained all required no-objection certificates (NOCs) for the project, paving the way for work to begin at the site. The detailed project report (DPR) is currently with the PMO and the cabinet is expected to give its approval this month. As per NMRC, once mandatory approval is completed, a tender will be issued to appoint a developer for the project.
The proposed project received a major boost in July after the Public Investment Board approved the 8.4-km elevated corridor between Noida Sector 51 and Greater Noida West Sector 4. As reported by Mint, the project is estimated to cost nearly ₹2,000 crore and will feature five stations. Construction is expected to be completed within four years, according to officials cited by Hindustan Times. The corridor is expected to significantly improve public transport access for nearly half a million people living in Greater Noida West, who currently have limited public transportation choices and depend heavily on roads for their daily commute.
According to Mint reports, the planned metro route will include stations at Sectors 61, 70, 122 and 123 in Noida, besides a station at Greater Noida West Sector 4 near Gaur Chowk. The new connection is expected to provide residents with an alternative to road-based travel and reduce pressure on the heavily congested Gaur Chowk stretch, which has become a major bottleneck for commuters travelling between Noida and Greater Noida West. As per NMRC, the corridor will provide an alternative to road transport and ease commuting for residents who currently have to pass through the congested Gaur Chowk area.
As reported by Mint, NMRC selected Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in August to execute two other upcoming metro projects. The first project is an 11.56-km corridor connecting Botanical Garden with Sector 142, estimated to cost around ₹2,254.35 crore and featuring eight elevated stations. The second project is a 2.6-km extension from Depot to Boraki, estimated to cost ₹416 crore and having two stations at Junpat and Boraki. Both projects are expected to be completed within three years.
The metro project announcement comes amid significant real estate growth in the Noida-Greater Noida corridor. According to recent market analysis, average residential prices across Noida have moved from roughly ₹6,300 per sq. ft. to about ₹13,300 per sq. ft. over the last five years — more than doubling. Four of the five residential projects in Noida stand out in 2026, with ready-to-move projects in Sector 143B offering lower entry prices and zero construction risk, while branded ultra-luxury launches along the Expressway carry 2028–2030 possession windows.
