Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has categorically confirmed that the Gruha Lakshmi and Gruha Jyoti guarantee schemes will continue one hundred percent despite ongoing rumours about their discontinuation. According to reports from Business Standard, Shivakumar stated that these schemes are 'the pride of the Congress government' and will not be stopped under any circumstances. The CM appealed to the public not to listen to false news being spread by opposition parties regarding the discontinuation of these welfare schemes.
As reported by Business Standard, Shivakumar clarified that some people have been creating fake records in the names of deceased persons and availing benefits of the schemes. To address this issue, beneficiaries have been asked to reapply only so that their name, address, and account number can be verified and authenticated for the guarantee schemes. The CM emphasized that 'all guarantee schemes will continue one hundred percent' and that no one need to be anxious about the continuation of these welfare programs.
According to Business Standard, Gruha Lakshmi offers ₹2,000 to women head of the families living below the poverty line, while Gruha Jyoti provides free electricity to the household connection up to 200 units of power consumption. The CM's confirmation comes amid rumours being spread by opposition parties regarding the potential discontinuation of these popular welfare schemes that have been running under the Congress government.
