
Private sector bank Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) has significantly expanded its UPI infrastructure through multiple strategic partnerships. The bank has partnered with TechFini, a UPI infrastructure and fintech solutions provider, to strengthen its UPI acquiring and issuing capabilities. According to recent exchange filings, TMB has also announced partnerships with Rugr FinTech to accelerate UPI collection through hosted UPI Switch Tech Fini and with Fin Meadows Technologies Private Limited to strengthen UPI infrastructure across India through their Tech Fini UPI Switch. Under the TechFini partnership, the company will serve as a Technology Service Provider (TSP) to TMB, enabling faster, secure and scalable UPI infrastructure for payment aggregators, NBFCs, merchants, and fintech partners across India.
The partnership will expand UPI use cases in lending and collections leveraging TechFini's UPI Autopay solution, helping automate EMI and loan repayments directly from customers' UPI handles. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, TechFini's cloud-native UPI platform can process up to 10,000 transactions per second, ensuring enterprise-grade scalability, resilience, and readiness for future UPI innovations. The multiple partnerships position TMB to offer comprehensive digital payment solutions across various fintech collaborations.
TMB reported robust business growth in the third quarter, with total business increasing 14.28% year-on-year to ₹1,07,470 crore compared to ₹94,042 crore in the same period last year. According to exchange filings, the bank has submitted provisional business figures as of December 31, 2025. The strong performance has been reflected in the bank's stock price, which has gained 25.92% over the last three months and is trading near its 52-week high of ₹557.
In addition to expanding its UPI partnerships, TMB launched an online EPF payment facility on December 26, 2025, according to exchange filings. This new service further strengthens the bank's digital offerings for customers. The bank has also announced the opening of new branches and reported changes in senior management personnel as part of its ongoing expansion and organizational development initiatives.
