Bengaluru-based PhonePe announced the launch of PhonePe PulsePro, a subscription-based enterprise intelligence platform that uses aggregated and anonymised transaction data to provide insights into consumer spending patterns, market trends and business activity. According to reports from PhonePe, the platform enables organizations to make faster, smarter business decisions by providing actionable intelligence based on actual consumer and merchant behavior. The platform addresses the growing need for timely, granular market intelligence as consumer and merchant behavior continues to evolve rapidly, with Karthik Raghupathy, Head of Strategy at PhonePe, emphasizing that "Businesses today don't just need more data, they need better intelligence." The platform responds to growing demand from organizations seeking deeper market insights for expansion and strategic decision-making, as traditional research methods often fail to capture actual purchase behavior, making it harder for organizations to actively respond to changing market trends.
As reported by PhonePe, the platform leverages India's largest digital transactions ecosystem, built on over 700 million registered users and 50+ million registered merchants. The platform provides coverage across 99% of India's postal codes, enabling organizations to make data-driven decisions across expansion planning, distribution strategy, site selection and category growth. This comprehensive coverage allows businesses to identify emerging trends and make actionable decisions quickly based on real-world consumer and merchant activity. The platform enables organizations to get a definitive source of truth for Indian economic activity through aggregated and anonymized transaction trends that reflect real-world consumer and merchant activity as it happens, with PhonePe's transaction data reflecting actual purchase behavior as it occurs in the market. The platform analyses aggregated and anonymised transaction trends on PhonePe's network of 70 crore registered consumers and 5 crore merchants.
According to PhonePe, the platform offers multiple enterprise intelligence solutions including Category & Growth Intelligence covering macro and micro market trends across 200+ store categories and 100+ market signals. The platform provides Retail Network Intelligence for identifying high-potential markets and optimizing distribution networks, as well as Hyperlocal Intelligence for smarter site selection decisions at district-level and postal code level. These solutions track digital ecosystem indicators such as quick commerce penetration at a hyperlocal level. The platform uses transaction trends from PhonePe's payments network to provide near real-time market insights at district and postal code levels, addressing the challenge that traditional research methods often fail to capture actual purchase behavior, making it harder for organizations to actively respond to changing market trends. The platform will offer data on category growth, consumer behaviour patterns and indicators such as digital ecosystem adoption.
The launch builds on the success of PhonePe Pulse, the open data platform launched in 2021 that has become a valuable resource for entrepreneurs, researchers, developers, policymakers and students. According to Karthik Raghupathy, Head of Strategy at PhonePe, the platform responds to growing demand from organizations seeking deeper market insights for expansion and strategic decision-making. While PhonePe Pulse will continue to remain freely accessible for researchers, developers and policymakers, PulsePro is designed as an enterprise offering with additional data intelligence capabilities. The product marks PhonePe's latest attempt to build new revenue streams beyond payments as the company looks to monetise its large user and merchant network. For PhonePe, enterprise data products represent another way of generating revenue from the scale of its payments network without relying solely on financial services distribution. The launch comes as fintech companies increasingly look beyond payments to improve monetisation, with Paytm recently announcing plans to sell its Artificial Intelligence software products to third-party businesses.
In FY 26, PhonePe's operating revenue rose 11 percent to ₹7,920 crore, while its consolidated net loss widened 62 percent to ₹2,792 crore, reflecting continued investments in newer products and platforms, and pressure on profitability. The company had also put its much-awaited initial public offering on hold earlier this year, citing geopolitical tensions and volatile market conditions. The company has said it remains committed to listing in India once market conditions improve, although people familiar with the matter have told Moneycontrol that valuation discussions are among the several factors behind the delay. PulsePro is expected to compete with traditional market research firms by offering businesses transaction-based insights instead of survey-based estimates, with the platform including data on spending trends across more than 200 retail categories and allowing businesses to analyse activity at district and postal code levels for expansion planning, site selection and distribution decisions.
