InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have announced their merger to create India's largest AI-enabled insurance distribution platform by premium generated through point-of-sales persons. According to reports from The Economic Times, Business Standard, The Hindu BusinessLine, and ZeeBiz, the combined entity will operate under the InsuranceDekho brand with Ankit Agrawal as CEO, while both company founders will remain with the organization. The consolidation was officially announced on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, creating a pan-India insurance distribution platform with comprehensive market coverage.
The merged entity will achieve significant scale with more than ₹6,600 crore of premium generated through its point-of-sale person (POSP)-driven distribution network in FY26, as reported by the companies. The platform has more than 600,000 digital partners and reaches 98.57% of India's postal codes as of March 31, 2026. As reported by The Economic Times, Business Standard, The Hindu BusinessLine, and ZeeBiz, the two companies have issued more than 20 million insurance policies since inception, demonstrating substantial market penetration across India's insurance distribution landscape. The combined platforms have now facilitated the issuance of over two crore insurance policies since inception, advancing their shared mission to make insurance accessible and affordable across Bharat.
The transaction strategically combines InsuranceDekho's presence in northern and western India with RenewBuy's network in southern markets, creating comprehensive national coverage. According to The Economic Times, Business Standard, The Hindu BusinessLine, and ZeeBiz, the platform will distribute products from multiple insurers across motor, health, life and commercial insurance segments, leveraging both companies' established distribution networks. The consolidation is specifically aimed at expanding insurance access beyond major cities and strengthening the availability of insurance products and digital tools for partners in smaller towns and villages. The integration will be structured to create a seamless transition, ensuring partners in small towns receive the same product accessibility, digital tools, and support as their counterparts in metros.
The combined business plans to integrate digital onboarding, policy issuance and AI-based advisory tools, while automating parts of the process for its network of partners. As reported by The Economic Times, Business Standard, The Hindu BusinessLine, and ZeeBiz, InsuranceDekho has developed in-house AI tools that provide partners with real-time insurance-plan recommendations, and combining these capabilities with RenewBuy's technology platform is expected to strengthen distribution infrastructure significantly. The integration with RenewBuy's technology capabilities will also support automated onboarding of partners and digital processes for insurance distribution. The platform will operate as an open, multi-insurer marketplace offering over 750 products from 52 insurers across motor, health, life, travel, and commercial insurance segments, combining digital onboarding, policy issuance and AI-powered advisory tools.
Ankit Agrawal, Founder & CEO of InsuranceDekho, stated that "This coming together is a strategic step towards taking insurance to the last mile. Our model has always been powered by our partners, and by backing them with a range of product choice, stronger tools and the support to grow their business, we deepen insurance access in the towns and villages of Bharat that need it most. This combination brings together complementary strengths in technology, on-ground distribution and insurer partnerships. Our immediate focus is disciplined execution and seamless integration." Balachander Sekhar, CEO of RenewBuy, added that "The union of these two organisations brings together a combination of digital, technology and distribution enablement. By pairing technology depth with skilled on-ground partner network capabilities, we can equip insurance partners with smarter tools and seamless digital experiences – and, through them, aim to bring insurance within reach of every Indian. Together, we believe we are building the infrastructure to strengthen last-mile access." The unified entity will collaborate closely with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and other stakeholders to accelerate insurance penetration nationally. The merger opens expanded career pathways at the intersection of insurance, AI, and distribution for the combined workforce, offering cross-functional opportunities in a rapidly scaling ecosystem.
