Groww, India's largest brokerage, experienced a temporary disruption on Friday that prevented clients from withdrawing funds from their accounts during equity market trading. According to reports from The Economic Times, the incident was attributed to an issue with the company's cloud service provider, Google Cloud Platform. Some users also reported difficulties depositing money into their accounts during the disruption period, with some users taking to social media to express their concerns about the service outage.
As reported by The Economic Times, the brokerage stated the problem was promptly resolved before market closing. A Groww spokesperson confirmed that the issue was caused by an "incident" at its cloud service provider, Google Cloud Platform. The spokesperson emphasized that "we experienced a temporary disruption that prevented a very small fraction of our customers from making withdrawals. However, the incident was promptly resolved, and customers were able to withdraw their funds before market close."
According to the Groww spokesperson's statement to The Economic Times, customers could then access their funds after the disruption ended. The company's quick resolution ensured that market participants were able to complete their trading activities without significant delays. An email sent to Google went unanswered at the time of reporting, as noted by The Economic Times.
