Boerse Stuttgart Group has announced a strategic partnership involving its tokenized securities settlement platform Seturion, online broker flatexDEGIRO, Societe Generale, and SG-FORGE to expand blockchain-based securities settlement infrastructure across Europe. According to the latest announcement, the collaboration is designed to support pan-European settlement for tokenized securities while offering claimed cost reductions of up to 90% through blockchain-based infrastructure. Seturion, developed by Boerse Stuttgart Group, is positioning itself as an open settlement platform for banks, brokers, trading venues, and financial institutions operating across European capital markets. The partnership, dated Tuesday, represents a significant step in building the post-trade layer for an integrated European capital market, with the core pitch centered on economic efficiency and network effects potential.
The platform will initially support tokenized structured products, including turbo warrants and investment certificates, before extending to broader asset classes across public and private blockchains. Under the partnership, settlement between participating parties will be conducted using CoinVertible, the euro- and dollar-backed stablecoins issued by SG-FORGE. As reported by The Block, Nasdaq's European trading venues will also connect to Seturion to facilitate trading and settlement of tokenized securities through the platform. This comprehensive approach ensures the platform can handle both institutional and retail-level tokenized securities transactions, with the platform designed to support public and private blockchains, along with cash settlement against central bank money and on-chain cash. The key asset is not the ledger itself, but the flow gathering around a shared settlement hub, with Seturion already having live usage at BX Digital in Switzerland.
Societe Generale plans to issue tokenized structured securities through Seturion, while SG-FORGE will provide Euro and U.S. dollar CoinVertible stablecoins for settlement activity on the platform. As reported by The Block, flatexDEGIRO will connect its retail brokerage flow across 16 European markets, spanning more than 3.5 million clients, into tokenized securities routed through the platform. Boerse Stuttgart already brings 230 institutional clients, while the new partner mix creates a clearer value loop with demand, issuance, and digital cash on the same platform. Jean-Marc Stenger, CEO of Societe Generale-FORGE, emphasized that 'As a regulated stablecoin issuer, SG-FORGE plays a pivotal role in advancing blockchain-based market infrastructure' and that the platform's open architecture lowers the risk of a closed pilot ecosystem. Oliver Behrens, CEO of flatexDEGIRO, stated that 'Tokenization of securities has enormous potential' and that faster and more efficient settlement remains a key focus for online brokerage platforms.
The partnership comes as European financial institutions increasingly expand stablecoin and tokenized finance initiatives under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework. According to the latest announcement, the collaboration reflects accelerating institutional interest in tokenized finance infrastructure, particularly in areas such as securities settlement, stablecoin payments, tokenized deposits, and blockchain-based capital markets. Seturion is still awaiting a DLT Pilot Regime license from BaFin before it can go live in Europe, representing the main bottleneck for platform deployment. The initiative highlights how traditional banks, exchanges, brokers, and stablecoin issuers are increasingly collaborating to modernize settlement systems and expand blockchain-based financial infrastructure across European capital markets. Dr. Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Group, emphasized that 'With Seturion, we are building the European settlement platform for the unified European capital market' and that the platform aims to help reduce fragmentation across Europe's settlement infrastructure.
