Axis Bank and travel fintech Scapia launched a co-branded credit card on Friday, targeting India's digitally native travellers. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine and ETTravelWorld, the Scapia Axis Bank Credit Card is available on both Mastercard and RuPay networks with no joining or annual fee. The card offers zero foreign exchange markup and includes airport privileges alongside rewards on both travel and everyday spending. Onboarding for the Scapia Axis Bank Credit Card began on September 3, with customers able to apply through a digital onboarding process.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and ETTravelWorld, the card allows cardholders to earn up to 20 per cent rewards on eligible travel bookings and up to 10 per cent on other eligible spends through the Scapia app. Rewards are earned as Scapia Coins and can be redeemed across flights, hotel stays, visas, experiences and shopping. The card offers 5% rewards on UPI, online, and offline spends of ₹500 or more with no maximum capping on rewards. Additionally, cardholders can earn ₹2,000 back as Scapia coins on shopping at airports and paying with the card. Every eligible spend and UPI transaction earns rewards, which users can redeem across flights, stays, experiences, shopping and more through the Scapia app.
According to the latest reports, the card includes unlimited domestic airport lounge access and complimentary dining, shopping, or spa by spending ₹20,000 every preceding month. Total rewards earned under airport privileges are capped at ₹2,500 or ₹5,000 per billing cycle in accordance with city-wise limits. The card provides airport lounge, dining and retail privileges for international travelers. Additionally, the card features UPI integration with RuPay cards for QR payments and fingerprint or Face ID authentication for secure UPI transactions up to ₹10,000. For the RuPay variant, customers can link the credit card to a UPI app and make payments by scanning UPI QR codes at eligible merchants.
The card offers dual-network flexibility with availability on both Mastercard and RuPay networks, enabling users to link their RuPay Credit Card to their preferred UPI app for seamless payments. The Scapia app allows users to manage the card, track spending and book travel. Scapia has introduced biometric authentication for UPI payments through Scapia Pay, allowing users to authenticate eligible transactions of up to ₹10,000 using fingerprint or facial recognition instead of entering their UPI PIN. On iOS devices, payments can be verified using Face ID, while Android users can use fingerprint authentication. Transactions above ₹10,000 continue to require the standard UPI PIN. The biometric authentication feature must be activated separately for each bank account linked to Scapia Pay, with Scapia stating that biometric data remains on the user's device and is not transmitted to or stored by the company or linked bank.
As reported by ETTravelWorld, Axis Bank Group Head Arnika Dixit stated that the partnership aims to move beyond traditional co-branded card offerings by integrating payments into how customers discover, plan and experience travel. Scapia Founder and CEO Anil Goteti noted that the platform's users have already travelled to over 175 countries, and the Axis Bank tie-up broadens its reach across India. This represents Scapia's third banking partnership, following collaborations with Federal Bank and BOBCARD. Goteti emphasized that young Indians are travelling more than ever before, and Scapia was built to give them a financial product that matches that ambition.
