As of 1:32 pm, the SENSEX was up 505 points at 78,268 and the NIFTY50 index advanced 143 points to 24,412. The rally was led by gains in index heavyweights including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, and Bharat Electronics.
Swan Corp shares rose as much as 7.5% to hit an intraday high of ₹334 amid a significant spike in trading activity. According to latest reports, trading volume in the stock jumped by 6.24 times to 46.54 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 7.46 lakh shares. On the NSE, as many as 46.54 lakh shares changed hands by 14:14 IST, representing a substantial increase from the 4.2 lakh shares traded in the previous session. The stock has now cleared the key resistance level at ₹315, trading 3.7% above this mark with current price standing at ₹327.4. Technical analysis shows the stock has broken above its 6-month resistance trendline at ₹315.28, indicating potential shift in momentum, though it remains in the lower third of its 52-week range.
Aegis Vopak Terminals Ltd emerged as another major volume leader, with shares surging 9.35% to ₹281.50 amid exceptional trading activity. The stock recorded 98.58 lakh shares volume by 14:14 IST on NSE, marking a 6.75 times surge over its two-week average daily volume of 14.61 lakh shares. This represents a significant increase from the 72.92 lakh shares traded in the previous session, demonstrating sustained investor interest in the terminal operations company.
Several other stocks witnessed substantial volume increases during the trading session. Allied Blenders also saw significant gains with trading volume jumping by 5.84 times to 27.23 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 4.66 lakh shares, with the stock gaining 7.15% to ₹702.00. Welspun Corp experienced a 5.14 fold spurt in trading volume to 49.67 lakh shares from an average of 9.66 lakh shares, with the stock increasing 7.75% to ₹1,550.80. HEG Ltd registered a 3.89 fold spurt in volume to 29.19 lakh shares from an average of 7.50 lakh shares, though it rose modestly by 1.12% to ₹532.80.
