
The S&P BSE Sensex jumped 600+ points or 0.80% to an intraday high of 77,641.86 at 12:30 IST, while the Nifty 50 index rose 150+ points or 0.70% to 24,218.15. According to latest reports, the broader market outperformed the frontline indices with the Nifty Midcap 100 index rising 0.70% to hit its 52-week high of 63,183.35 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index vaulting 1.2% to its 52-week high of 19,450.35. Market breadth remained exceptionally strong with 2,772 shares rising and 1,239 shares falling on the BSE, while 216 shares remained unchanged. The domestic benchmark indices continued to trade with strong gains in afternoon trade, supported by sustained foreign fund inflows and buying in blue-chip stocks, despite escalating US-Iran tensions and rising crude oil prices.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, declined 7.61% to 12.35. As reported by Business Standard, the Nifty 28 July 2026 futures were trading at 24,205.40 at a premium of 29 points compared with the spot price of 24,183.20. The Nifty option chain for the 28 July 2026 expiry showed a maximum call OI of 22.2 lakh contracts at the 25,000 strike price and maximum put OI of 63 lakh contracts at a 24,000 strike price.
The Nifty Realty index added 1.64% to 921.80, extending gains for the second consecutive day with a total increase of 5.23% over the two trading sessions. According to Business Standard, leading realty stocks showed strong performance with DLF gaining 4.23%, Godrej Properties up 3.11%, Anant Raj rising 2.56%, Brigade Enterprises adding 2.28%, and Aditya Birla Real Estate advancing 1.77%. Other notable performers included Prestige Estates Projects (up 1.76%) and Oberoi Realty (up 1.55%).
Greaves Cotton gained 2.60% after the company announced its board had approved participation in the proposed rights issue of its material subsidiary, Greaves Electric Mobility (GEML). As reported by Business Standard, Anand Rathi Wealth added 1.56% following the company's Q1 FY27 results showing a 23.5% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹115.9 crore on a 17.5% increase in revenue to ₹322 crore compared with Q1 FY26. Atishay secured a domestic contract worth ₹82.25 lakh from The Udaipur Central Cooperative Bank, Udaipur. Jio Financial Services (up 4.01%) and HDFC Life Insurance (up 2.58%) were among the major Nifty50 gainers, while Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 1.36%) and Eternal (down 1.30%) were the major losers.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) gained 1.45% after reporting a consolidated net profit of ₹13,349 crore for Q1 FY27, down 2.7% from ₹13,718 crore in Q4 FY6. Revenue from operations rose 2.2% sequentially to ₹72,275 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹70,698 crore in the preceding quarter. Muthoot Microfin surged 13.27% after reporting an 18% year-on-year increase in assets under management (AUM) and strong disbursement growth. RailTel Corporation of India rose 2.13% after securing a work order worth ₹18.54 crore from the Information Technology and Electronics Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. HFCL gained 1.28% after securing an international order worth approximately $51.98 million (around ₹495.8 crore) for optical fiber cable-based data centre connectivity solutions.
