Vipin Dixena, SEBI-registered analyst, noted that the Sensex is currently facing rejection near the 78,900–79,000 resistance zone after a strong trending move from lower levels. According to ET Now, Dixena highlighted that while price is still holding above the rising 50-EMA, the recent pullback suggests short-term exhaustion. Aakash Shah, Research Analyst at Choice Equity Broking, stated that the index is currently consolidating near higher levels, indicating a pause in the ongoing uptrend. As reported by ET Now, both analysts expect the market to remain in a consolidation phase with a slight bullish undertone, supported by continued dip-buying.
According to ET Now, PSU banking and Energy stocks emerged as key gainers, with heavyweights like State Bank of India and ICICI Bank contributing to the upside. However, IT, Realty, Metal and FMCG stocks were among the laggards, witnessing mild profit booking. Market breadth remained mixed with 2,593 stocks declining, 1,810 advancing and 175 remaining unchanged on the BSE. The BSE SmallCap Select index dipped 0.15% and MidCap Select index lost 0.12%, while Power jumped 1.24% and Utilities gained 0.88%. As reported by ET Now, immediate support is placed at 78,000 with resistance seen around 79,000–79,200. Dixena expects the bias to remain mildly bullish with consolidation trend intact above 78,000, but failure to break 79,000 can lead to sideways-to-corrective movement. Shah identified immediate support near 77,800–78,000 and resistance around 79,000–79,200. The overall market structure suggests a range-bound yet resilient setup with cautious undertone, indicating continued consolidation with stock-specific action unless the index decisively breaks out of the current range. According to Univest research, a break below 24,270 Nifty support level invalidates bullish predictions and brings 24,000 into play quickly.
