PC Jeweller shares experienced severe selling pressure on Thursday, falling as much as 9% during the trading session and hitting an intraday low of ₹12.04 on the NSE. According to Mint, the stock opened at ₹12.59 per share compared with its previous close of ₹12.64 on Wednesday. The stock was trading 6.74% lower at ₹12.04 apiece as of 10:16 am, significantly underperforming the broader market. The BSE Sensex was trading 0.34% higher at 74,255 levels, highlighting the stock-specific nature of the decline.
The current session marked the fifth consecutive session of decline for PC Jeweller shares, as reported by Essential Business Intelligence. The stock has fallen over 13% in a week, indicating sustained selling pressure over the past seven trading days. This extended decline pattern suggests sustained investor concerns or profit-taking activity in the jewellery sector, with the latest session showing the most severe selling pressure.
The sharp decline comes amid profit booking across the small-cap space, with investors seen paring positions in stocks that have witnessed a strong run-up. As per Kranthi Bathini, director of equity strategy at WealthMills Securities, "PC Jeweller is seeing some profit booking after the sharp run-up in the stock. We are also seeing selling pressure across the ID and small-cap space, with investors choosing to book profits in several stocks that had rallied significantly. The weakness in PC Jeweller appears to be part of this broader profit-booking trend in the small-cap segment."
Trading activity in PC Jeweller was particularly strong on Thursday, with 1,191.06 lakh shares changing hands during the intraday session on NSE, as reported by Mint.
