Investor sentiment remained negative due to elevated crude oil prices and new geopolitical worries, with the Nifty Bank index falling 0.48% amid selling pressure in banking stocks. The advance-decline ratio across BSE500 was weak at 0.55x, with 176 advances against 321 declines, signalling a lack of conviction among investors.
Shares of the green energy producer surged as much as 7.67% ahead of its upcoming results on 24 July 2026, making it the standout performer among BSE500 stocks. According to reports from The Economic Times, NTPC Green Energy reported that its net profit in June quarter rose 38% to ₹305 crore and its revenue from operations advanced 63% to ₹1,107 crore. The company's operating EBITDA jumped 64% to ₹989 crore with EBITDA margins at a robust 89%. Trading volume on the NSE jumped by 5.5 times to 5.5 crore shares compared with an average volume of 29.5 lakh shares over the past 30 days. The company's power generation capacity rose 1.6x to 10,671 MW, with 9,891 MW from solar energy and 780 MW from wind energy. However, the stock is currently trading 1.60% lower at ₹92.19 apiece on the NSE, with the stock having hit its 52-week high of ₹119.95 per share on April 27, 2026, while its year's low of ₹84 apiece was recorded on March 2, 2026.
Shares of the graphite electrodes maker rose as much as 6.60% after it reported robust quarterly results. As reported by The Economic Times, HEG reported a growth of 16.2% in its consolidated net profit at ₹222 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to ₹743 crore in the same period last year. The company's revenue from operations increased 11.1% year-on-year to ₹681 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹613 crore in the June quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year. The operating profit grew 42.5% to ₹151 crore with operating margin expanding 500 bps to 22%. Trading volume jumped 11.2 times to 1.71 crore shares on the NSE compared with an average volume of 15.36 lakh shares. The company also received clearance for the name reservation as "HEG Advanced Materials".
Shares of the quick commerce and food delivery company witnessed an increase of 4% on July 23 after the company posted robust Q1FY27 financials. According to reports from The Economic Times, Eternal recorded a volume of 3.6 crore shares versus its 30-day average volume of 3.3 crore shares. The company witnessed an adjusted revenue growth of 186% YoY to ₹17,680 crore, with revenue from food delivery growing 30% and revenue from quick commerce jumping 674%. The adjusted EBITDA witnessed growth of 160% to ₹429 crore, with contribution of ₹532 crore from food delivery, ₹37 crore from quick commerce and ₹81 crore from going out business. Net profit grew 3.7 times to ₹92 crore. The stock's performance helped its peer firm Graphite India gain 5%.
A majority of renewable energy stocks were trading in the negative territory on Tuesday, July 28, with Suzlon Energy down 2.18% to ₹52.02 ahead of its Q1 FY27 earnings announcement. The board of directors of Suzlon Energy will meet on Tuesday to consider and approve the financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. In contrast, Waaree Energies shares were trading at ₹2,759.90, up 0.67%, with the company set to post its Q1 FY27 earnings on Wednesday. Last week, Waaree Energy Storage Solutions announced the commencement of its 5.15 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery energy storage system container manufacturing facility. Sunil Rathi, Director of Waaree, emphasized that battery energy storage systems are essential for ensuring grid stability and sustainable growth as India accelerates its clean energy transition. Other renewable energy stocks including Adani Green Energy, Premier Energies and ACME Solar Holdings were also trading in negative territory on Tuesday.
