The National Stock Exchange has implemented a significant improvement to its real-time market data delivery system, with the Nifty 50 index now being disseminated at a frequency of 100 milliseconds (0.10 seconds) compared to the previous 250 milliseconds (0.25 seconds). According to reports from Business Standard, this change represents a 50% reduction in dissemination delay, bringing the index update frequency to five times every second from the current four times per second. The enhanced real-time dissemination framework took effect from 11 May 2026.
The enhanced dissemination frequency was announced through NSE's earlier press release dated 22 April 2026, as reported by Business Standard. The exchange had previously communicated its intention to improve the real-time data delivery system for the benchmark index. The 11 May 2026 implementation date marks the successful rollout of the revised framework, providing market participants with more timely and accurate index data.
The 50% reduction in dissemination delay is expected to significantly improve market efficiency and trading transparency, according to Business Standard reports. The enhanced frequency will enable market participants to access Nifty 50 data with 50% greater speed and accuracy compared to the previous system. This improvement is particularly significant for high-frequency trading strategies and real-time market analysis requirements.
