According to reports from Business Standard, the broader market showed mixed performance with the BSE 150 MidCap Index rising 0.05% while the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 0.31%. Market breadth remained negative with 1,824 shares rising, 2,385 shares falling, and 225 shares unchanged on the BSE.
The Nifty Auto index declined 0.49% to 28,959.35, marking its third consecutive trading session of decline with a 1.16% fall over this period. As reported by Business Standard, major auto sector stocks experienced significant declines including Samvardhana Motherson International down 2.08%, Hero MotoCorp falling 1.18%, Exide Industries declining 1.1%, Sona BLW Precision Forgings down 0.77%, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles down 0.75%, Tube Investments of India falling 0.61%, Ashok Leyland declining 0.46%, Maruti Suzuki India dropping 0.43%, Bosch down 0.33%, and Bajaj Auto declining 0.17%. Other notable declines included Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles down 0.75%, Ashok Leyland falling 0.46%, and Bajaj Auto declining 0.17%.
Afcons Infrastructure gained 2.82% following the company's receipt of an arbitral award of ₹335.50 crore in its favour against Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) on August 24, 2026.
