Meesho Ltd.'s share price extended its rally, surging 5% to ₹240.40 on Tuesday's intra-day deals amid heavy volume after the company's robust second-quarter update. According to the latest exchange filing, Meesho's Net Merchandise Value (NMV) through the Content Commerce ecosystem grew 152% year-on-year, demonstrating exceptional growth momentum. The stock has rallied 10% in the past two trading days, hitting a record high of ₹254.65 on December 18, 2025. The company's strong performance reflects a significant shift in how consumers across Bharat are shopping online, with consumers increasingly browsing for inspiration, exploring recommendations and discovering products through short-form videos and creator content.
The company's growth is driven by an extensive creator network of over 1.6 lakh active creators across India over the last 12 months, with 90% classified as nano creators - those with fewer than 10,000 followers. According to Meesho's latest data, around 81% of its active Content Commerce creators are from non-metro India, highlighting the growing role of smaller cities in creator-led commerce. Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets such as Varanasi, Agartala, Jabalpur and Madurai accounted for 66% of Content Commerce orders. The creator base is diverse with homemakers accounting for 40% of active creators, young graduates representing 30% (around 50,000 creators), and 25% being first-time creators. Around 78% of active homemaker creators are from non-metro India. As per Nikita Dawda, General Manager, Content Commerce, Meesho, the company is seeing meaningful scale with Content Commerce NMV growing 152% year-on-year, supported by the extensive creator network.
In an exchange filing on October 6, Meesho's board approved an investment of up to ₹50 crore in Retail Pulse Labs Private Limited, which will become a step-down subsidiary after completion. This follows the company's proposed acquisition of Kirana Club Pte. Ltd. and its subsidiary Retail Pulse Labs, announced on June 12, 2026. Meesho claims to be India's largest e-commerce platform by the number of annual transacting users and placed orders. The company's growth is supported by its extensive creator network and performance-linked model where creators earn commissions when their content generates orders, giving sellers an additional channel to generate demand.
Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) and foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) increased their stake in Meesho during the September quarter of FY27. According to latest shareholding pattern data, DIIs held 63,21,28,408 shares, or 13.66% stake, up from 9.14% stake in June quarter. FPIs increased their stake to 45,50,74,351 shares, or 9.83% stake from 5.19% stake in June quarter. However, technical analysts remain cautious about current valuations. Nomura recently initiated coverage with a 'reduce' view and ₹167 target price, citing premium valuations despite higher NMV growth. Technical experts suggest the stock is heavily extended on the higher side with RSI above 70, warranting caution at current levels. The stock faces immediate resistance at ₹245-₹250 levels, with sustained holding above ₹215 maintaining the positive structure.
Brokerages remain divided on Meesho's prospects, with UBS and Jefferies maintaining positive stances while Nomura issuing a Reduce call. UBS recently hiked its target price by 24% to ₹260 and raised FY29-31 NMV estimates by 7-18%, citing the continued flywheel effect from seller and buyer growth. Jefferies reiterated its Buy call with a ₹240 target price, expecting contribution margin improvement to 5.5% over the next 12 months and 8.5% by FY31. However, Nomura highlighted intensifying competition from horizontal e-commerce platforms and quick commerce, noting that Amazon and Flipkart are stepping up their presence in QC and value commerce. The brokerage pointed to Flipkart's relaunch of Shopsy in May 2026 as a competitive concern, with Nomura believing third-party logistics disruptions and intensifying competition could create headwinds for margin improvement.
