According to reports from Lumentum, the stock rose another 3.82% on October 6 to close at $1,133.40, just below its 52-week high of $1,137.20. The scale of this rally stands out even in a market obsessed with AI, with Micron gaining about 457% and Dell rising roughly 308% over the same 12-month period. As reported by Lumentum, fiscal fourth-quarter revenue reached $1.01 billion, up 109.3% year over year. The company also delivered earnings of $3.23 per share, which beat analyst expectations. Lumentum makes lasers and optical components used inside data centers, telecom networks and AI infrastructure, positioning it well as companies build larger AI systems requiring faster connections between servers and data centers.
Following the massive rally, analyst sentiment remains sharply divided on Lumentum's future prospects. According to reports from Lumentum, the average target among 23 analysts is $1,078.75, which is already around 5% below the latest share price. However, Citigroup is far more bullish with a $1,400 target, implying roughly 24% upside. Other analysts include Rosenblatt at $1,300 and Stifel recently raising its target to $1,232. At the other end, UBS sits at $820, implying roughly 28% downside from current levels.
The company's market value has now climbed to roughly $101.7 billion, reflecting the significant investor interest in AI infrastructure companies. As reported by Lumentum, Citigroup has pointed to demand for optical circuit switches as another major growth driver. The optical networking supplier has benefited from increased spending on data center infrastructure as companies scale their AI operations, with the company well-positioned to capitalize on the ongoing AI infrastructure boom.
