Lalithaa Jewellery Mart reported a consolidated net profit of ₹208 crore for Q1 FY2027, marking a significant 40% decline from the previous quarter's ₹346 crore and 31% lower than the year-ago figure of ₹266 crore. According to the company's unaudited financial results approved by the Board of Directors on September 11, 2026, revenue from operations grew 26% year-on-year to ₹6,035 crore against ₹4,794 crore in the same period last year. However, profit before tax contracted by 39% quarter-on-quarter to ₹284 crore, reflecting the company's first quarterly results since becoming a public company following its listing on August 24, 2026.
The company faced significant margin compression during Q1 FY2027, with EBITDA margin contracting to 6.2% from 8.4% in the previous quarter. As reported by the company, cost of materials consumed remained the largest expense head, constituting approximately 77% of total revenue, highlighting the sensitivity of margins to gold price fluctuations and inventory management. Finance costs increased to ₹62 crore from ₹49 crore in the prior quarter, adding pressure on pre-tax profits. Despite these challenges, the company's gold inventory of ₹10,407 crore is naturally hedged by ₹5,680 crore in customer advances and creditors, limiting exposure to gold-price volatility. The company noted that stable gold prices during Q1 FY27 significantly reduced the contribution of gold-price-related inventory gains to reported profitability, with the contribution of inventory gains to gross margin declining by more than 90% year-on-year.
Lalithaa Jewellery Mart shares reached ₹352.80 on BSE, up 75% from IPO, hitting the 5% upper circuit limit on Wednesday, September 23. According to Mint, the newly listed stock has gained around 36% so far in September and is up nearly 75% from its IPO price of ₹201 per share. The stock opened at an intraday low of ₹341 and touched a high of ₹352.80 per share. Lalithaa Jewellery Mart shares opened at ₹325 on NSE today, compared to the previous close of ₹320.10 on Monday. The positive market sentiment was reflected in heavy trading activity during the session, as reported by NDTV Profit. On BSE, 0.53 lakh shares worth ₹1.76 crore changed hands, though this was below the two-week average of 5.73 lakh shares. On NSE, 37.62 lakh shares worth ₹126.23 crore were traded, indicating strong investor participation.
The company demonstrated strong geographic diversification with Tier II and III cities contributing 62% of revenue in Q1 FY2027, up from 60% in FY26, reflecting deepening penetration in smaller markets. As reported by the company, large and medium format stores generated 89% of total revenue despite comprising only 84% of the store count. Beyond financial results, the board approved several strategic initiatives including investment of ₹171.15 million in Lalithaa Jewellery (M) SDN. BHD., Malaysia as part of international expansion strategy. The company also approved constitution of a Borrowing and Investment Committee and utilization of IPO proceeds, having completed its Initial Public Offer in August 2026, raising ₹12,000 million through fresh issue and ₹5,000 million through offer for sale. Since April 2026, the company has increased its retail footprint from 61 to 66 stores, adding five outlets, with the latest addition being its 66th showroom in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, offering introductory discounts until September 2026.
Despite the decline in inventory gains, Lalithaa Jewellery's core gross margin improved by 20 basis points year-on-year, representing the margin generated from making charges. The company attributed this improvement to its underlying strength in jewellery operations, supported by focus on making charges, product mix and pricing. Making-charge revisions implemented in Q4 FY26 and towards the end of Q1 FY27 are expected to progressively support underlying gross margins as the revised pricing structure gains greater representation across sales. The company noted that wedding and festive consumption and continued preference among consumers for trusted organised jewellery retailers supports the encouraging demand environment. While volatility in gold prices is expected to continue influencing purchase volumes and product mix, the company remains positive about the long-term opportunity in organised jewellery retail, with its expansion strategy focusing on disciplined growth and operational execution.
