Indian equity benchmarks staged a strong recovery during the final hour of trading, with the NSE Nifty 50 rising 0.17% to close at 23,659.00 and the BSE Sensex gaining 0.16% to end at 75,318.39. According to reports from NDTV Profit, both indices had experienced significant morning weakness, falling as much as 0.9% during the session before mounting a dramatic comeback. The Nifty Oil & Gas sector emerged as the top performer, while the FMCG sector lagged behind other market segments. As per Economic Times, the volatility gauge India VIX ended at 18.44, down by 1.25% from the last closing, indicating easing market volatility.
The market recovery was supported by a mixed sectoral performance, with Bank and Metal indices snapping a three-day losing streak, as reported by NDTV Profit. However, the Pharma and IT sectors ended lower after recent gains, indicating selective investor interest during the session. This divergent performance across sectors contributed to the overall market volatility before the final hour recovery. According to Economic Times, analysts noted that benchmark indices closed marginally higher on Wednesday, led by gains in banking and auto shares, while IT and FMCG stocks capped advances. The broader structure remains range-bound with weak sentiment persisting below key resistance levels.

The Nifty futures are trading 0.35% higher at 23,695.00 with a premium of 36 points, indicating positive sentiment for the upcoming session. According to Economic Times, Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities noted that Nifty's 20EMA and 50EMA are in a bearish crossover, while the momentum indicator RSI is also in a bearish crossover. The index has been consolidating within the range of 23,400 and 23,800 for the last few days and has failed to reclaim the 20EMA. Overall sentiment remains weak, and this weakness may continue in the short term as long as the index stays below 23,800. However, a decisive move above 23,800 could trigger a strong rally, while a fall below 23,400 may induce panic in the market. The broader structure remains range-bound with expectations of Nifty to trade within the 23,300–24,000 range.
