Global index provider Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) has included five Indian companies to its FTSE Emerging Markets All Cap Index as part of its May 2026 index review. According to reports from JP Morgan, the additions include Lenskart Solutions, Groww, Tata Capital, ICICI Prudential AMC, and Billionbrains Garage Ventures (Groww). The index rejig also resulted in significant weightage adjustments, with Bharti Airtel's weightage increased with estimated inflows up to $51 million, while Reliance Industries' weightage was reduced with estimated outflows of $63 million. These changes are effective June 22, 2026.
The additions are expected to generate substantial inflows into the index. As reported by JP Morgan, Lenskart Solutions is projected to bring $84 million in inflows, while Groww is estimated to see inflows of $78 million. ICICI Prudential AMC follows with $64 million, and LG Electronics is expected to contribute $61 million in estimated inflows. These projections indicate significant investor interest in these companies' market performance.
The FTSE Emerging All Cap Index is a market-capitalisation weighted index highlighting the performance of large, mid and small cap stocks in emerging markets. According to reports, a rejig in such an index is a key event for the market as they help investors determine the direction in which funds are moving. When an index is reorganised, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds that track that index perform a rebalancing exercise to re-align their portfolios with the new composition. The rebalancing activity usually begins days before the date the changes are implemented to maintain intended asset allocation proportions.
Beyond the FTSE additions, significant changes are occurring across Indian indices. TVS Motor Company will replace Adani Enterprises in the Sensex 50 index, effective June 22. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises, Ashok Leyland, One 97 Communications (Paytm), and CG Power and Industrial Solutions will enter the BSE Sensex Next 50 index, replacing TVS Motor, Ambuja Cements, Colgate Palmolive, and Tube Investments of India. Additionally, Ashok Leyland, One 97 Communications, and CG Power will be added to the BSE 100 index, while Ambuja Cements, Tube Investments, and Colgate Palmolive will be removed. NSE will also remove Exide Industries and Nuvama Wealth Management from the Futures & Options (F&O) segment from July 29.
