Over the past six months, the NIFTY 50 index has declined 5.5%, while the NIFTY Midcap 100 index has gained 7%. The midcap outperformance continues with a 10% year-on-year rise compared to the NIFTY 50's 4% decline over the past year.
Despite broader market corrections, five stocks from the BSE Midcap Index hit fresh 52-week highs on Tuesday, reaching their strongest price levels in the past year. Data from Upstox News reveals that 14 stocks on the NIFTY Midcap 100 index are trading near their five-year high levels. The top performers include Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services trading at ₹415 (5.98% away from 5-year high), L&T Finance at ₹338.60 (7.56% away), and Biocon at ₹447.15 (8.41% away). Other notable names include Aditya Birla Capital (₹430.7, 9.07% away), APL Apollo Tubes (₹2,301.4, 9.17% away), and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (₹2,474, 10.45% away).
Five stocks from the BSE Midcap Index achieved fresh 52-week highs on Tuesday, demonstrating strong investor interest despite the broader market decline. Ajanta Pharma reached a new 52-week high of ₹5,931.4 with a current market price of ₹5,795, gaining approximately 18% in the last one month. GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals hit a new 52-week high of ₹2,918 with a current price of ₹2,883.2, showing a 17% monthly gain. APL Apollo Tubes achieved a new 52-week high of ₹638 with a current price of ₹626.6, also gaining 17% in the last month. Oracle Financial Services Software reached ₹4,723.6 with a current price of ₹4,720, up 15% in the last month, while Phoenix Mills hit ₹3,796.95 with a current price of ₹3,705.4, gaining 8% in the same period.
Several companies reported exceptional quarterly results for Q1 FY27. Biocon recorded a remarkable 349.4% year-on-year growth in consolidated net profit to ₹141.1 crore, compared with ₹31.4 crore in Q1 FY26. The strong performance was driven by 17% YoY growth in the biopharma business revenue. M&M Finance posted a 70% yearly rise in standalone net profit to ₹898.65 crore, compared with ₹529.50 crore in the same period last year. Coforge reported robust numbers with revenue of ₹5,527.7 crore in rupee terms, up 49% YoY, and US dollar revenue of $592.2 million, up 33% YoY.
