The Meesho decline is part of a massive week of share unlocks, with fourteen companies witnessing shares worth approximately ₹14,000 crore becoming eligible for trading as their shareholder lock-in periods conclude. According to CNBC-TV18 reports, this substantial volume of shares being released presents significant risk of increased selling pressure across the market. The list includes several prominent recent listings such as Meesho, Tata Capital, LG Electronics India, and WeWork India, representing some of the most significant IPOs of 2025. Market analysts warn that this influx could trigger considerable selling pressure, impacting stock prices despite many companies trading above their IPO levels but below post-listing highs.
Tata Capital, recognized as the largest IPO of 2025, concluded its three-month shareholder lock-in period on Wednesday, January 7, with 71.2 million shares or 2% of outstanding equity worth ₹2,573 crore becoming tradeable. The stock has shown renewed momentum in recent weeks, moving 11% above its issue price of ₹326 after trading in a narrow range for most of the past three months. The shares gained over 6% in Friday's session and ended 0.49% higher on Tuesday at ₹361.35. Analyst sentiment remains exceptionally positive, with all seven analysts tracking Tata Capital maintaining a 'Buy' rating on the stock, with price targets reaching as high as ₹410 per share. According to CNBC-TV18 reports, the company recently received its lowest price target since listing when Avendus Spark initiated coverage with a 'Reduce' rating and a price target of ₹1,536 per share on December 24. The brokerage noted that while competition has increased and customer bargaining power has weakened, LG Electronics' extensive reach continues to remain a key strength. The stock has risen about 28% from its issue price of ₹1,140 but has corrected around 17% from its post-listing high of ₹1,749. WeWork India, the Indian unit of the global co-working space provider, will conclude its three-month lock-in period on Tuesday, with 10.4 million shares or 8% of outstanding equity worth ₹637 crore freeing up.
