
A unique buying pattern emerged during the June 2026 quarter, with 10 companies witnessing simultaneous increases in promoter, mutual fund, and foreign portfolio investor holdings. According to LiveMint Data Research desk analysis of 3,523 companies, this rare pattern generated a median return of 34.8% for the quarter. Nine of the 10 companies delivered positive returns, with every company on the list having a market capitalisation exceeding ₹2,000 crore, suggesting concentrated buying interest in established businesses across sectors including infrastructure, chemicals, FMCG, electricals, textiles and hospitality.
Sterlite Technologies emerged as the standout performer, delivering over 238% returns in the June quarter while witnessing the sharpest institutional ownership increases. The company's promoter holding rose marginally to 44.51% from 44.44%, but mutual fund ownership surged significantly from 7.41% to 9.48%, while FPI holding jumped from 11.47% to 18.22%, marking the highest FPI increase at 6.75 percentage points. United Foodbrands followed with around 213% returns, while Cupid and Yasho Industries also delivered multibagger returns of 119% and 113% respectively. Other notable performers included Welspun Living, Eveready Industries, Zydus Wellness, and GMR Airports which jumped between 25% and 37% each.
GMR Airports recorded the largest increase in promoter ownership among the group, with promoter holding rising to 67.16% from 66.33% in the March quarter, an increase of 0.83 percentage points. During the same period, mutual fund ownership increased from 2.32% to 2.51% (+0.19 percentage points), while FPI holding climbed from 20.17% to 21.72% (+1.55 percentage points). The company commands the largest market capitalisation at ₹1,18,366.12 crore among the group.
The data reveals distinct institutional buying patterns across different sectors. Cupid saw promoter ownership increase from 46.03% to 46.24% while FPI holding surged from 1.01% to 4.17%, representing a 3.16 percentage point increase. Deepak Nitrite recorded minimal promoter changes but saw mutual fund ownership rise from 11.01% to 11.45% and FPI holding increase from 6.19% to 6.24%. In the FMCG space, Zydus Wellness saw mutual fund ownership increase from 18.43% to 18.73% while FPI holding moved up from 3.17% to 3.32%. Eveready Industries India recorded the second-largest promoter holding increase at 43.20% to 43.60%.
