Ripple's XRP Ledger Lending Protocol has successfully completed a comprehensive re-audit by security firm Halborn, with no critical or high-risk flaws found during the review. The re-audit covered code changes made after an earlier audit and tested whether updated designs matched the XLS-0066d lending specification. According to Halborn, the engagement ran from December 16, 2025, to January 12, 2026, with the firm reviewing transaction checks, state consistency, accounting rules, parameter limits and access controls across the protocol. The report found five issues in total: zero critical issues, zero high-risk issues, one medium issue, two low-risk issues and two informational findings, with 100% of reported findings addressed by Ripple's engineering team.
The XRP Ledger ecosystem is entering a new phase of development with five major infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving security, liquidity, and long-term resilience. According to XRP Ledger Foundation community director and validator Vet, the roadmap focuses on quantum readiness and includes native lending, AI-powered security testing, formal verification and an upgraded automated market maker (AMM) framework. As part of this development phase, XRPL Commons has launched the 'Make Waves on XRPL' competition, offering 50,000 XRP to developers who build and deploy live applications on the XRP Ledger mainnet. The 90-day challenge runs through September 21 and focuses on products with real users and measurable on-chain activity rather than prototypes, with weekly leaderboards, educational sessions and mentorship opportunities supporting participating teams.
The XRP Ledger Lending Protocol is designed to support on-chain, fixed-term, uncollateralized loans using pooled funds from a Single Asset Vault, with the system relying on off-chain underwriting to assess borrowers rather than automated collateral liquidation. This model differs from many DeFi lending markets by using underwritten credit, fixed terms and permissioned access over standard open DeFi lending. As previously reported, SOIL, a regulated yield protocol, has positioned itself to become the first application to use XRP Ledger's proposed native lending infrastructure as the network considers activating the XLS-65 and XLS-66 amendments. The amendments would enable a new class of lending and yield products directly on XRPL, with the protocol allowing loan brokers to create lending terms, manage vaults and handle borrower relationships under defined ledger rules.
The XRP Ledger is advancing a comprehensive infrastructure initiative targeting full quantum readiness by 2028 through a multi-phase roadmap introduced in April by Ripple. According to Vet, an XRP Ledger validator and director of community at the XRP Ledger Foundation, this phased approach addresses concerns that future quantum computing advances could challenge existing cryptographic systems. The roadmap includes an emergency 'Q-day readiness' phase that would force migration to quantum-safe accounts and enable fund recovery via zero-knowledge proofs if quantum threats arrive sooner than expected. Phase 2 testing is already underway, with Ripple establishing a dedicated AI-powered red team in March to scan the XRP Ledger for vulnerabilities. The red team publicly disclosed 287 xrpld issues on GitHub with 231 issues remaining open and 49 closed, focusing on code quality improvements and defense-in-depth measures.
The XRP Ledger ecosystem shows strong current activity with network activity approaching one million transactions per day and the current XRP price trading around $1.13. Market participants responded positively to the latest XRPL security developments, with XRP price rallying about 3.6% from $1.12 to an intraday high of $1.16 on June 22 before easing to around $1.14 at the time of writing. Recent work on the network has also focused on infrastructure improvements, with XRP Ledger releasing version 3.2.0 on June 22, deploying fixes for several software issues after a security review by blockchain security firm Common Prefix identified numerical and behavioral edge cases. At press time, XRP was down about 2% over the past 24 hours and trading roughly 5% above the bearish target, leaving the token close to the projected support level. The price movement reflects growing investor interest as the network expands its financial capabilities and prepares for advanced applications including tokenization and decentralized finance services.
