XPlace has launched its $999 Platinum Visa card targeting wealthy digital-asset holders who want spending power without immediately selling their crypto. The premium card offers a $750,000 monthly spending limit, 4% general Credit Mode cashback, zero foreign-exchange fees, and significantly richer travel benefits including unlimited airport lounge access and 24/7 personal concierge service. The card represents XPlace's attempt to move crypto cards into the premium travel market, connecting DeFi lending, stablecoin liquidity, crypto collateral and conventional merchant payments inside a single consumer experience. Physical cards are scheduled to begin shipping in Q3 2026, with metal cards for Gold and Platinum members and plastic cards for Silver members.
The card features two distinct spending modes - Credit Mode for crypto-backed borrowing and Cash Mode for direct USDC spending. Credit Mode allows users to pledge supported digital assets as collateral through Kamino's on-chain lending infrastructure, with eligible purchases triggering borrowing against that collateral at the point of payment. Supported assets include BTC, ETH, SOL, JitoSOL, USDC and USDT. The company emphasizes that Credit Mode does not require conventional credit checks or income verification because borrowing is secured by crypto collateral, though KYC is still required. Fixed borrowing rates range from 13.99% on Basic to 7.99% on Platinum, with applicable rates displayed before transactions.
XPlace's program starts with a free Basic tier offering virtual-only access with a $2,000 monthly spending limit and 1% USDC cashback on eligible Credit Mode purchases. The $99 Silver tier adds a plastic physical card with $10,000 monthly spending limit, 2% general Credit Mode cashback, and 3% rewards on rides and car hire. Gold costs $249 annually with a $200,000 monthly spending limit, 3% general Credit Mode cashback, and 5% on eligible rides, car hire and qualifying AI subscriptions. The $999 Platinum tier offers the most comprehensive benefits with 4% general Credit Mode cashback, zero foreign-exchange fees, and unlimited airport lounge access. Monthly cashback caps range from $10 for Basic to $250 for Platinum.
The launch fits a larger shift in decentralized finance, as major crypto companies increasingly look beyond token trading toward lending infrastructure and collateral markets. XPlace's model addresses the growing battle over DeFi credit and collateral, with the company describing its target audience as crypto's high-net-worth generation. The product represents a move from traditional crypto debit cards that converted digital assets into spendable cash to a more sophisticated system that allows users to retain crypto exposure while accessing liquidity. The card can be used online and in stores across more than 160 countries where Visa is accepted, with virtual cards compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay. However, the product introduces new risks including crypto-price volatility, collateral liquidation, and smart-contract exposure that conventional premium travel cards do not carry.
