Stellar's native token XLM experienced a 44% weekly rally following the announcement that the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) selected the Stellar blockchain for its tokenization plans. According to reports from AMBCrypto, the DTCC, which serves as the clearing and trade settlement house for global financial markets, will tokenize its custodied assets and make them available on Stellar from early 2027. The partnership positions Stellar as a key infrastructure provider for institutional tokenization services, with the firm planning to support the issuance, settlement, corporate actions, and lifecycle management of tokenized assets on Stellar. These assets include stocks, ETFs, U.S. Treasuries, and corporate bonds.
Following the Wednesday announcement, XLM pumped by 11% and has since extended its rally from $0.15 to over $0.20, bringing weekly gains to 44% at the time of writing. As reported by AMBCrypto, the rally has climbed above the 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA), suggesting the market structure has effectively flipped to bullish. However, this bullish outlook can only be confirmed if the weekly candle closes above the key level, alongside the 2025 support at $0.21. The surge has pushed XLM back to price levels last seen before the crypto market crash in January 2026, with the token also gaining 34% during May 2026 and now sitting on track for its biggest monthly increase since July 2025.
If the weekly candle decisively flips the 2025 support level into support, bulls could target $0.26, representing approximately 31% potential upside from the 2025 support level. According to AMBCrypto, the bullish outlook would be invalidated if the price falters at the 2025 support level and the weekly candlestick closes below the 200-day SMA. The analysis suggests that profit-taking activity could erase recent gains if the support level fails to hold. Despite the excitement around Stellar, some crypto figures still believe the DTCC announcement does not hurt XRP's long-term outlook, with crypto founder Jay Nisbett noting that DTCC is not trying to choose one blockchain as the sole winner.
While XLM surged 44% in three days, rising from $0.1475 to $0.2123 after the DTCC announcement, XRP has continued to struggle alongside the broader crypto market. Over the same three-day period, XRP slipped about 0.8% and has also fallen 3.97% during May 2026, putting it on track to post its seventh monthly decline in the last eight months. Despite the excitement around Stellar, some investors have shifted funds from XRP into XLM, but finance coach John Vasquez continues to accumulate XRP, believing the DTCC choosing Stellar does not mean XRP will be left behind in the growing tokenization market. Vasquez emphasizes that the financial system works more like an ecosystem where several networks can exist together instead of one chain taking over everything.
