TRON has activated Proposal 107 on August 28, bringing Ethereum Prague and Osaka features to the network alongside more efficient passkey verification capabilities. According to reports from AMBCrypto, the proposal received 25 approvals before taking effect, marking a significant upgrade to the TRON Virtual Machine that runs applications on the network. The activation was completed with GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 implementation, as reported by the official TRON DAO account.
The upgrade introduces features from Ethereum's Prague and Osaka updates to the TRON Virtual Machine, as reported by AMBCrypto. This integration allows developers to face fewer barriers when moving applications from Ethereum to TRON, as they now have less software to adjust. The proposal brings the two environments closer together, making TRON more attractive to teams that already build Ethereum applications and reducing the complexity of cross-network migration. The integration includes block hash queries as part of the EVM compatibility features.
The upgrade enables passkey verification instead of conventional passwords, allowing users to sign into applications using security features built into phones or computers. According to AMBCrypto, this includes fingerprints, face scans, or PINs depending on the device used. The new capability makes it cheaper for TRON applications to verify signatures created through systems such as Apple Secure Enclave and Android Keystore, potentially improving user experience without requiring users to personally manage every security step.
The upgrade will enable applications to look further back into the blockchain to verify transactions previously made, as reported by AMBCrypto. This feature helps services where earlier transactions need to be confirmed and reduces reliance on data providers. However, the cost savings from expensive security computations depend heavily on how particular applications are compiled, with the extent of savings varying based on application-specific implementation.
Despite record network usage, TRON price has declined 2.2% over 24 hours, trading near $0.3225 with a market value of approximately $30.6 billion, ranking eighth among all crypto assets. According to latest market analysis, TRX has lost a seven-month trendline that held since February, creating concerns about potential further downside. The token has broken below key support levels and faces resistance at the $0.3359 retracement level, with analysts suggesting a potential move toward $0.3067 if current trends continue. However, TRON continues to settle more Tether (USDT) than any other blockchain with $91.8 billion in stablecoin supply compared to Ethereum's $73.7 billion, indicating strong network fundamentals despite price pressures.
