Taurus has successfully completed its 18-month integration of Hedera's blockchain technology, making it available to 40+ banks and regulated financial institutions as of August 5. According to reports from Crypto.news, the integration provides comprehensive access to HBAR custody, staking, token issuance, node infrastructure, and smart contract deployment through a single provider. The rollout spans Taurus-PROTECT, Taurus-EXPLORER, and Taurus-CAPITAL under one institutional risk framework, with institutions now able to custody HBAR, stake tokens, issue assets, and deploy Hedera smart contracts directly. As reported by The Hashgraph Group, the integration was completed in three phases over 18 months with support from The Hashgraph Association, a Swiss non-profit focused on adoption of the Hedera network.
The completed integration covers five key functions within the Hedera ecosystem. As reported by Crypto.news, institutions can custody and stake HBAR while retaining controls used for other assets inside Taurus, access node infrastructure, and issue tokens through the Hedera Token Service. The newly delivered smart contract layer utilizes Hedera's EVM compatible Smart Contract Service, allowing banks, issuers, and technology partners to deploy Solidity-based applications using familiar Ethereum development tools. The companies cited tokenized bonds, funds, and stablecoins as potential products, though no specific issuance, customer launch, or transaction volume was announced. According to The Hashgraph Group, this single-platform approach entirely removes the technical friction of vendor sprawl, empowering engineering teams to seamlessly scale from simple custody to programmable tokenization on Hedera without ever initiating another integration project.
The integration serves major regulated institutions including Deutsche Bank, CACEIS, and State Street, as reported by Crypto.news. Taurus joined the Hashgraph Association's Global Membership Program in July 2026, following their strategic partnership announcement in January 2025. The partnership initially brought HBAR custody and staking to Taurus-PROTECT and added Hedera Token Service support to Taurus-CAPITAL. Taurus had previously integrated P2P.org staking infrastructure in June, allowing banks to access proof of stake networks without moving assets outside existing Taurus workflows. As reported by The Hashgraph Group, the integration represents another major milestone in institutional adoption of the Hedera network, utilizing one of the best governed enterprise grade public networks.
According to Crypto.news, Taurus and The Hashgraph Association framed the integration as a solution to reduce vendor fragmentation in the banking sector. A bank beginning with HBAR custody could later add staking, tokenization, or programmable products without selecting another infrastructure provider and completing separate technical integrations. The announcement comes as regulatory frameworks for digital assets continue to develop in major markets, with the MICA regulatory framework taking effect in Europe and progress in the USA with the Clarity Act. As reported by The Hashgraph Group, banks exploring tokenized finance have often faced a split market, with one supplier handling custody and another enabling issuance or programmable logic. Each additional supplier can require a separate risk review and technology integration, adding cost and delay as projects move from pilot stage to production. The change also broadens Hedera's reach among software providers serving financial institutions, with tokenization engines, stablecoin issuers and fund administrators now able to build products on Hedera while relying on Taurus for custody.
