Sui (SUI) jumped roughly 31% over 24 hours on Sunday, lifting it onto CoinGecko's trending coins list alongside Sweat Economy (SWEAT) and Zano (ZANO) and reviving talk of a fresh altcoin narrative. According to analytics tracker CoinsLytic, the high-throughput Layer 1 reclaimed ground above $1.40, marking a significant recovery for the utility-focused blockchain. The rally extends an advance that lifted SUI more than 38% earlier in 2026, with analysts flagging a clean break above the $1 zone and naming $3 and $10 as longer-term targets. SUI now carries a market cap of $5.43 billion and a fully diluted valuation of $13.49 billion, positioning it near the high end of its 52-week range after breaking above the critical $1 threshold.
The depth of SUI's rally is signaled by exceptional trading activity, with SUI generating $2.35 billion in 24-hour trading volume, representing a massive 43.29% of its market cap. This high volume ratio indicates strong liquidity and active market participation, which is necessary for price moves to have staying power rather than being shallow, low-volume pumps. Several accounts logged the move within hours, with trader Ivan Liljeqvist capturing the mood for short-term participants in a Sunday post. "SUI up almost 30% since flipping bull on the hourly time frame" he wrote, noting that "the last 7-10 days is a paradise for short-term day traders grinding lower timeframes in altcoins." The high-throughput Layer 1's simultaneous appearance alongside a fitness token and privacy-by-default chain has drawn wider attention, with CoinGecko noting the trio entering its top five "for the first time in a while" and asking whether a new narrative could form.
The composition of the trending coins signals a shift in market interest beyond traditional categories. SWEAT ties token rewards to physical activity through the Sweatcoin app, while ZANO operates as a privacy-by-default chain, representing rotating interest beyond meme coins and AI agents toward privacy names and other utility plays. As reported by CoinGecko, their joint appearance points to rotating interest beyond meme coins and AI agents, toward privacy names and other utility plays, though whether this grouping marks the start of a sustained shift or simply a weekend algorithmic movement will depend on whether volumes hold through the week. The simultaneous appearance of SUI with other utility tokens like SWEAT and ZANO in CoinGecko's trending list points to rotating flow into utility narratives, rather than isolated demand for SUI alone.
The key test now is whether this high-volume activity sustains through the week, as the immediate focus is on whether recent flow can sustain volume and push price through these psychological and technical levels. If volumes hold, it would support the narrative of a fresh altcoin move and provide evidence that the current surge represents genuine institutional or retail interest rather than a short-term pump. A clean break above the $1 zone opens a path toward analyst targets of $3 and $10 as longer-term goals, with the immediate focus on whether the recent flow can sustain volume and push price through these psychological and technical levels. The high-volume activity and strong liquidity ratios suggest this may be more than a temporary market movement, but sustained momentum will depend on continued institutional and retail participation.
