According to reports from Spout Finance, the company successfully raised $2 million in a strategic funding round on October 15, 2026. The round attracted notable investors including Draper Dragon, Anchorage Digital, Flow Traders, Taisu Ventures, Vessel Capital, Solayer, 2Square Capital, Bering Waters Ventures, and Blockstreet Capital. The company also received strategic backing from Solana Labs. Individual investors included Solana co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal, former CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo, and other prominent figures in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. As reported by GlobeNewswire, the funding will be used to scale the team and build Spout's credit layer, which issuers, exchanges and wallets can plug into rather than build themselves.
As reported by Spout Finance, the platform proposes to allow investors to borrow USDC against tokenized U.S. stocks at 0% interest rates. Borrowers can access loans worth 50% of their pledged stock collateral through the proposed platform. Under the model, customers deposit tokenized stocks as collateral and receive USDC loans at a fixed 50% loan-to-value ratio. For example, an investor pledging $10,000 worth of eligible tokenized shares could borrow $5,000 in USDC. The collateral remains pledged to the lending protocol while the loan is outstanding. According to GlobeNewswire, borrowers can keep a loan open for years and cover costs such as rent or a tax bill without selling their shares, as there is no interest compounding against them. The platform currently supports 34 tokenized stocks including AAPL, TSLA, and SPY, allowing borrowers to access stablecoin loans against their equity holdings.
According to Spout Finance, the company plans to generate lender returns by selling systematic far-out-of-the-money covered calls against tokenized equities each week. The platform writes options with exercise prices well above the current market value of the pledged shares. This strategy generates premium income while limiting potential gains on the underlying collateral if the stock rises beyond the option's exercise price. As explained by GlobeNewswire, instead of charging the borrower, Spout writes covered calls against the collateral and lenders are paid from that options premium rather than from a rate spread. The platform features an automated covered call engine that generates yield on the deposited equities, flipping the usual model so borrowers aren't charged and lenders earn double-digit APY backed by real options activity on US stocks. Former CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo described the system as an alternative to traditional stock-backed lending, where premiums compensate lenders instead of interest payments from borrowers.
As reported by Spout Finance, the company compared its proposed service with traditional borrowing options, noting that Charles Schwab and Fidelity charge 12.075% annual rates on margin balances below $25,000. Private banking securities-backed lending rates range between 4% and 6%, though these arrangements generally require substantial account balances or specific eligibility conditions. According to GlobeNewswire, Schwab's base margin rate is 10.25% against an effective federal funds rate of 3.88%, with rates falling as balances grow, making the smallest borrowers pay the most. According to earlier market data, Solana's tokenized stock deposits reached approximately $79.1 million, the largest amount among blockchains included in the dataset, with Uniswap V4 holding $59.1 million and Kamino Lend following with $41.7 million in tokenized stock deposits.
According to Spout Finance, the platform currently operates on Solana Devnet with private beta access planned before mainnet deployment. The company plans to use the $2 million funding to expand its development team and build lending infrastructure for tokenized securities. The proposed customers include tokenized asset issuers, cryptocurrency exchanges, and digital wallets seeking stock-backed lending services. The team previously described partnerships with Stork to provide pricing data for tokenized assets, with accurate collateral valuations forming part of the proposed borrowing infrastructure. As reported by GlobeNewswire, the beta runs on Solana Devnet at beta.spout.finance, and a private beta will launch soon. To request private beta access, users can message @SpoutFi or @0xmryan on X.
